Thunderbird Club

Let it be known.
@Chucky Stiletti @BklynKen
I love this bass.
The pick guard is a work in progress.

Combination signature series.
A one off.

I don’t know if y’all have access to Yorkville cases. Their Tbird case fits the Bach NR nicely.

I made a vinyl Back sticker for Marshall last year and stuck one on my case to see how it would hold up. I guess I’ll leave it on there.

Looks like my TKL case I use to store the '64 Thunderbird. I never tried the NR in it. It would certainly knock off a couple lbs.

I saw a pic of the bass player for 3 Doors Down and he plays a Thunderbird a fair bit it seems, and has a pick guard seemed to have a similar look.

What are the internal measurements? The case that came with my first BaCH appears to be a Yorkville, but it is about three inches longer than their current Thunderbird case. My BaCHs need about 52 inches of total internal length. Unfortunately, The larger cases appear to be discontinued.

Per the current website for the Yorkville Thunderbird bass case:

Internal measurements
Length 50.00 inches (127.00 cm)
Lower Bout 14.50 inches (36.83 cm)
Depth 4.50 inches (11.43 cm)

I tried to put the Dunlop flushmounts on both VPs 7 went smoothly on the white VP:

And I really think it improved how the bass hangs, when I look a the neck, I'm seeing the side of the fretboard squarely, not on an angle as per usual. IMO, more comfortable to play. On the black VP however, not so good.

You probably can't tell from the photos, but the black VP flushmount is closer to the headstock by 1/16 to 3/32". I used the original straplock holes as a guide. When I drilled the black VP hole deeper I hit something hard, maybe the trussrod? I thought the pilot hole went in to the depth guide, but I think the chuck was a little loose and the bit actually went further into the drill. I discovered the error after I drilled the 3/8" hole and tried to screw it in and came up short. I errantly assumed both original straplocks were installed in the same location. So now I have to plug the hole with a dowel and re-drill. It'll still be worth the effort for the increased (to me) comfort.

Cut the screw?

Yes Sir. And you can have mine. Given that enjoyable expression, V can have mine. Heck, anybody can have mine!

Now now, you need to get out a bit more! Food is an adventure, as they say “when in Rome”
Next year’s GTG is a must 😺

Getting me out isn't much of a problem--it's what gets in me where I tend to have some firm boundaries. I could get one down, but if the goal is to get any food out of your mouth as fast as possible I tend to have questions no one has yet to provice compelling answers. :smug: But I do like oysters fried.

I like them fried too, but having them on the half shell is just good, they slide right on down nicely😸
