I really have nothing else to do right now, so I'm gonna make some random comments about yer boyz here.
First of all... it's obvious that the word "progressive" in your name, is to be taken seriously!

If there's ever a retrospective filmed about this band... Bill Hader needs to be the drummer (watch the first few seconds of the video again with that in mind. You'll fall outa yer chair!).

The bass player has a magnificent "touch"!

The combined weight of everyone in the band, is only slightly more than mine alone. Somebody needs to bring them a sandwich platter!

Though he never lets it show in his playing... the guitar player looks like he's friggin' wasted, and searching for a corner in a large circular room!

I've never been much of a prog guy, but I've been listening to a lot of Jazz lately, and have made an observation that makes sense in my mind (and perhaps nowhere else). The 2 have quite a bit in common, but Prog has sharp corners... Jazz has rounded edges.

Yeah the guitar player is obviously well conditioned to his elements, I cant play that wasted but if I could I certainly would. Is that in its own right a separate degree of talent?.

Page #1984. I've been waiting for this one! This was the album that made nearly every priority in my life, just disappear! Alex Van Halen turned my world upside down. Nothing else mattered but playing music by my second time through this album. I love everything on it, but the drumming, and the production of the drums on this album, just yanked me in & has never let me go.

The only Van Halen album I ever liked was Fair Warning. Some of Eddie Vans best guitar playing, but this is one mans opinion.

Used to be 90/10...must be inflation. Whatever, a point in life is reached where SOME things seem worth what they cost.

$650 Iphone7 that will be obsolete in a few years or $100 a month for cable TV? Nope.

I was an early adopter of cable in Australia - paying for endless repeats of old and crappy rubbish, then to add insult to injury they started showing adverts. One day I realised I hadn't looked at it in 6 months and cancelled the account. $12/month for Netflix is nearly painless and there is actual content.

Most people seem to change their 'devices' every 6 months. In this house we hang on to them until they break or are unusable. We've been talking about a new telly for years, but for the moment the existing 32" device has a very good (if only 720p) picture, and is deep enough to make a perfect cat perch. My sister was still using our family's first B&W 14" valve telly in the 90s, and for all I know, it's still going somewhere.

Some people collect large numbers of things, I like to have a few, but need to have them just so, and quite obsessively... That means not cutting corners on some things and not chasing phantoms on others. Some ideas are pointless or just needless complications and need to go in the bin. There's nothing wrong with thinking about something, but better the idea is discarded before you spend time and money on it and end up regretting it. And yes, my brand new Thunderbucker 66S pickup should arrive today or tomorrow. I offset this against the undertaking there will 0 -- yes zero -- hardware/electronics swaps to the future Vintage Pro ... unless the pickups really suck.

+1. This is my mode. One thing that gives me what I want vs. multiple that only provide bits and pieces. I have 3 basses. 73' Jazz that I just put Lollar pickups in and Babicz bridge on to replace the worn out pick ups & bridge one that were on it. Big improvement over the originals and I can swap back if I had. No permanent mods.

Same with my 2014 T-bird. Lollar pick-ups and Babicz bridge. I like the additional parts more that the stock stuff. YMMV.

I also have a Fender Kingman acoustic for plunking around the house.

I just picked up a 2012 Gibson Explorer but the neck is not to my liking, (to wide and thick....ahem...) so that will be headed out the door shortly.

Fair Warning is my favorite album ,so raw and so heavy. Eddie was very angry at that time as he was bigtime into the booze. The entire band was on another level for that album.

That one was epic! There were actually people threatening to rage quit TB IIRC.
My other favorites were - the quest to find the best tacos while trying to recover a stolen bass, and the "help I've just stabbed my bass cabinet" thread. I guess there are certain areas of TB that kinda resemble that People of Walmart video.

Everything on Netflix is available free from Putlocker or other sites...e.g. I just finished Season 1 of Ozark yesterday. Ditto every series on HBO, Amazon, Showtime, FX, etc. Plus almost every movie ever made. Content wanna be free!
OTOH my five year old 43" TV (only used as a monitor) is on its way out. Four areas of vertical lines where the color is going. But they keep getting cheaper, burglars don't even bother stealing them these days. I may give myself one for my upcoming birthday...but probably not.

Balance was better than I expected by that point and is interesting, but not as good as the first 4.
