Thunderbird Club

Ever since I first heard the opening riff to Mike Watt’s “Contemplating the Engine Room”, which he played on a ‘68 T-bird, I’ve been chasing that tone.
Then recently saw the white Classic IV and decided to go for it

That would do it! Great bass sound :)

What made you want a Bird in the first place?

Maybe I've told this story here before, but I saw/bought my '63 T-bird II in a loan shop in Omaha Nebraska in '73. Went to check-out/buy a P-bass a friend tipped me off about. A pre CBS for sure as they weren't that old or sought after then. It was gone and the T-bird was there. At that point I knew John Entwistle, Overland Watts and the guy from Wishbone Ash played one so I gave the guy $150 (w/OHSC). It was stolen in '78 from an apt break-in and I replaced it with renters insurance money for my 'closet classic' '64 II (w/OHSC $750) which I still have and actively play. It was my only bass for many years and playing a T-bird is just part of my DNA.

Nope. It's never too soon for chrome. Winning a 'Bird with a 'losing' bit is proof that it chose you. Welcome to official membership in the biker gang/mafia/witches coven/whatever we are these days.

In regards to, "never too soon for chrome".
I didn't wait long to do it. Jumped on The p/ups and parts.....

@Dadagoboi, how many basses have you built for Australia? Not asking who or where, a number will be fine ... although posting shiny Cataldo pr0n is not discouraged.
Two. Been a few other inquiries. Expensive shipping doesn't help. Your P.O. has size limitations which means assembled basses have to go by pricier shippers.

@RedVee was asking (on another site) if the JAEbird and my NR41 were the only examples in the country.

I'll admit to being nervous about reattaching the neck to the NR41 but your instructions were good and straightforward and it was easy. Certainly preferable to paying the shipping costs for a fully assembled bass.

[APOLOGY] it was @RedVee -- sorry Geoff, wasn't fully awake.
