Thunderbird Club

I like this, no standing in the shadows trying to hide by the drummer while playing some lame, tort equipped FSO here - Bravo
You mean I am not supposed to hide when playing these?

Unfortunately it isn't lame tort I am worried about. It is the lame bass lines. I don't suppose I can get the band to stop after the first 20 or so bars of Rio?

Hmm, there's a certain female in my circle of aquaintances that is quite in love with "my upright" and keeps encouraging me to just "let her keep it in her bedroom for a night". She seems to push the topic every time we run into each other at open mics.
Fortunately my upright is happily married and can tastefully decline such invitations. And my upright does not go unplayed, in case you were wondering.
Ooookay. Well there you go... reminds me of a King Missile tune. Fortunately my upright is large enough that it's very difficult indeed to lose.
...never occurred to me.

Looks like it is just an Epi VP being sold off as a Gibson Bicentennial - Except a Gibson Bicentennial doesn't have the jack on the side...

Nope, don't think so. Definitely a chromed out CP.

It’s a 3 point bridge so at the very least it’s a Classic Pro, chromed out.

Yup.

I don’t know if it’s an Italian thing, but my grandma’s purse/handbag has to be big enough to put the restaurant menu and the salt & pepper shakers in it… yes that actually happened.
Her sister-in-law is the same way.

My wife says the same about her Italian family. There was a scene in the Sopranos where a group of older Italian ladies finish lunch and take everything off the table before they leave. My wife started laughing and said she had witnessed that behavior growing up.

Everything except the table cloth!

That’s why I specifically said my grandmother’s sister-in-law, instead of my aunt, so it doesn’t sound like it’s just my family. I’m glad that it’s not!

Not only the women, my dad used to do the same thing. When I was a small child and taken to the Automat for the first time I blurted out, "They have the same spoons as we do!"

I have never witnessed this behavior but it makes me chuckle.

Come to think of it, we rarely ate at diners or restaurants.

Sorry for the confusion. I generically called it a purse, my wife calls it a handbag (over the shoulder strap) or a clutch (much smaller hand held). I can't stand sh!t in my pockets. So with the exception of my wallet, wifeypoo gets to haul all my junk (car keys, sun glasses, phone, change, etc) around in her handbag. I hate it when she only has a clutch because it won't hold any of my stuff. Fortunately for me she doesn't mind.

Same in my world :)

That used to be me as well until I discovered cargo pants/shorts. Way better than a murse and a lot more convenient than having to rely on the wife.

An interesting choice between flats and Rounds is the Earnie Ball Cobalt flats. Very bright flat, nearly round wound and tons of grit and growl. If you're looking for something smoother you might consider La Bella white copper tape wounds. They are much brighter than Black tapes, nearly a broken in nickel round wound sound but ultra smooth, no grit but some thump.

Alright, I'm ordering a set. What's the worse that can happen? I hate them and someone in here gets a deal on barely used strings. What gauge would you recommend on the Cobalt Flats, G? .50-.105?

I’d love to be able to pretend to have the slightest clue what the hell you just said

Again, you just need to know that makes no sense to like at least 98% of the world

That's part of the enjoyment for her I'd bet.

Some of you made some string recommendations and thanks so much! Ordered a set of Cobalt flats,

What gauge did you order?

but while researching I stumbled across this little gem...

I dare anyone to get through the entire video

That was horrible and I skipped through 90% of it... wow, he hasn't a clue has he?

How does that ‘fun fact’ clear up anything?!

I was able to roll with pockets books, handbags and such, really. Carlo's reference to the Automat had me in stitches.
But i'm with you Duke, i was totally lost as well. Especially when Kat posts references to sport related things. Way over my head. And i know when Kat posts, they are relevant and important. And we all must pay attention!!
But not having the understanding of such words and phrases puts me in a tail spin. But i also don't get out much.

I got to about 3 minutes before totally losing the will to live. On the plus side, I now know that there is someone out there with worse technique than me!

The ongoing saga of no ebony VPs anywhere continues. I am seriously contemplating going for a burst instead now. However, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how the colour compares to the dark reddish burst on the CP. I like the way that the stock VP photo seems to show that it is much lighter than the classic, but I can’t help feeling that this may simply be a trick of the light...

My wife carries a bag the size of a backpack. I'm not sure what she keeps in there. It's her inner sanctum, and I only go in there under duress and at her specific direction when she asks me to get out her keys or something.

No patches. I think it refers to the specific style of denim jacket. I'm a bit dense in this department.

There you go -- @D.M.N. has supplied the answer.
He has how many of those? And you are limited in numbers of bass guitars? We need to have an intervention. Or maybe just a mass migration to Sydney with pictures of our flocks to show him that you are actually deprived. Or just a mass migration to Sydney because it's warm and sunny there and it sure isn't either of those here.
