Absolutely. It all comes down to what you want to hear.
I would never want to be "That Guy" who advocates a particular sound. The groups that I'm in now call for a vintage warm upright fretless vibe. Something more aggressive? My sound wouldn't work at all. That's the beauty of music. Everyone has their own tastes.

The other thing I can think of is the resilience of the aluminum cone. If played within limits, all good.
If abused the cone is quick to separate at the the voice coil joint. Once this happens the cone comes apart from the coil MUCH faster than it will on a different material such as paper or others. In other words, if this happens the speaker will not survive the rest of the gig the way a paper cone can be nursed to. Recone jobs can be more expensive as well.

And some amoungst us eschew such diminutive descriptors and instead elect to articulate "calculus".

I have never been to Portland, but I have seen the video of Darth Vader on a unicycle playing flaming bag pipes. On that basis, I assume that Portlandia is a documentary.
