Thunderbird Club

It's a great book.
I particularly need to regularly avoid pages 142 and 143. Damn BFG Les Paul Bass! Love one, but never seen one for sale. My son has a six string one in goldtop- stunning.
I have a couple of LP Basses- next best thing to TBirds.

Ya know,I like my Les Paul 5er. I just wonder how it would sound w/ T-Bird plus pups instead of the stock Bartolini's. Maybe some day......:)

Crazy thing is, i'm not a profusely sweaty person. And i'm not gigging, that's when the real sweat rolls in. So i'm at a loss as to why at this stage of the game, strings just don't go a long way for me.
They are terrified by your Chechen henchmen. That's all I can think of.

So far, that Cobalt flats are holding up well on my ‘02 Gibson...I’m guessing I’ll get 4-6 months out of em, but hard to say because I use em a lot. With rounds, if I could justify it, I’d change em every couple shows, which is what I do on the road. It’s also part of why I use flats with Eskimo Brothers. I can get 35-50 gigs out of em as opposed to 2-3 gigs and flats work well on the country/Roots thing. Had a really fun gig in Indianapolis Saturday after a pretty dodgy Friday night in Cincinnati:)

Great pics! Good news on the Cobalts. I can vaguely remember a number of dodgy Friday nights in Cincinnati, what I don't remember is how I ended up across the river in Newport or where all that glitter came from. o_O

Any butt bow involved? How about fuzz bow?

Glad to see evidence that Mark survived the blizzard and spinning cars along the way.

Maybe you were waiting for Pompilio's to open :)

While I may be ostracized for asking, has anyone EXPERIMENTED w/ locating the neck pup closer to the neck like an EB-0/3 on a Tbird? Just curious, not planning anything that drastic on either'Bird:)

I'm sure Carlo has but he hasn't been in here for awhile. He has a "bass mule" where he can experiment with P/Up placement.

It's entirely possible that the VTBDI sounds great with J basses, or hippy sammij basses, or coffee table basses ... just not with my basses. The DG Vintage Ultra will never have the richness or heft of the Traynor but it's good enough that I'm not looking for something else.

I had a loaner Traynor 400 a while back when my amp was being repaired. I was so hyped on it's tone. I'd certainly get one if I didn't have about 8 zillion dollars in my '94 SVT. I've been retubing that thing for over 20 years. Hahahaha.

What broke?

It came straight to Vancouver from Nashville in the box. I was so excited when I opened the box that I inspected it, played a few licks on it, paid, and took off home without plugging it in.

I got home and plugged it in and hummed, loudly. I figured out that the hum was coming from the bridge pickup. Like, obnoxiously loud. I pulled the control cover off to see if anything was loose, tested all the grounds. Nothing. Then is stopped humming when my fingers were on the strings. Ground problem. Traced all the wires. Nada. Took it in to the shop and they tested it. Couldn't sort out the issue. Something int he preamp is not correctly grounded.

Looks like they're getting a whole new board to put in it.

I have a bolt-on Epi that will eventually get a Dimarzio One in that position. I have too many other unfinished projects ahead of it for that to get done any time soon.
