I had a guy spin in front of me, bounce off a guardrail, then spin behind me once. I had a bit of a racing stripe in the trousers after that. Stay safe!Snow storm in Indianapolis...car just spun out in front of us on the interstate...close call

It's that wet weather up your way.I was messing with an EXH Bass Big Muff off and on, and it's pretty good for some things. It's not completely over the top, but it's pretty aggressive. I'm expecting the Soul Food to be more along the lines of what I'm interested in. But who knows until it turns up. It's journey. Fortunately, I can afford the expense up to a point. I haven't found the right distortion for fuzz bow yet, either. We were making another attempt at recording, including putting a jury-rigged cardboard box around the drummer to control bleed, and I tried the Big Muff on a song I bow on. It kinda sucked. Oh, well. I think I like the completely outrageous sputtering Bass Fog pedal better. It's a Woolly Mammoth clone, which means it's probably intended for FSO owning metal players, not fuzz bow. Fuzz bow needs too be precise, but nasty.
That's turning out to be more of a challenge than I thought. I'm turning into a #$@ tone hound over fuzz bow. Who woulda thunk it?
(we don't have any humidity in Florida

)I skipped the ex and married the trophy wife first. She's even a bit older than me, so I didn't have to rob the cradle either. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.You guys and your marriage horrors............... I'll stick to basses. i'm the only one that can make them talk back, in a way i like.
That's what the fretless 'Bird looked like before it reached it's higher calling.
I dunno about that. We are competing for the SMALLEST board. It's a twin thing - when push comes to shove, we don't shove, we pull. It resolves the universe by redirecting. Or something like that. Plus, it's harder to figure out.Oh sure, you say that now. But the Mod will get more bowling shoes and trucker jackets and you will feel the need to compete.
As for not being a member of the Darkglass cult; you are in denial.![]()
I drove 18 wheelers for 23 years, during which time I had 4 wheelers go by me the wrong way on the interstate about 14 times, promptly inducing maximum pucker factorI had a guy spin in front of me, bounce off a guardrail, then spin behind me once. I had a bit of a racing stripe in the trousers after that. Stay safe!
Dumb question about details - what's the thing that looks like some kind of heart shaped antenna on the dashboard? I knew a guy who had St. Coltrane on his dashboard, and have seen plastic Jesus more than once, but that's a new one.
Drive the crap out of it and don't worry. If it's old enough it doesn't need to be smogged, so much the better. You are causing puppies to get lung cancer, but you getting better fuel economy and aren't causing flooding in New Orleans, so it's a mixed motive. Stick with the good side.Oh, it's much deeper than that. I'll give you the Readers Digest condensed story.
Car was a gift. MIL lamp remained illuminated. O2 heater circuit short. Crawl under car, no cat. Cool looking 4-1 tube header! But no catalytic converter. Discontinued model, OEM parts are NLA, good grief.blah blah blah. You get my point.![]()
@Scoops, not a lot of fretless Birds around, and fewer NRs. That fact alone should get twitchers, aviarists and ornithologists excited.
The real question is, How's your box?
Base 10 when we only have 8 fingers ought to qualify even if the bass didn't. Which the quorum seems to think it does.
We are kinda fond of that sonic terrain, as you might guess. Welcome to our world.Cool!
This is my first venture into TB's. I won't be leaving soon
This is a whole new sonic terrain that I'm rather pleased....errr....ecstatic about.

Feeling your pain. I have a '90 Camry wagon that needs about $2300 worth of work consisting of NLA parts. It looks good and helps deter people from turning around in my driveway and knocking over my post lights--again.Oh, it's much deeper than that. I'll give you the Readers Digest condensed story.

The reason I don't do it that way is because the preamp/DI is the last thing the cable hears before it goes into a board. Having a DI that doesn't include the rest of the circuit thing is a wast of the rest of the circuit. If I didn't go DI off the ToneHammer, then putting it earlier would make sense for exactly the reasons you point out.I commented on HPF's here: High Pass Filter (HPF) and Low Pass Filter (LPF) Mega Thread
The reason why I place the micro thumpinator, last in the chain is for reasons similar here to your train of thought.
I found it to be pest practice to feed the pedals that benefit the most from a full range dynamic signal (some pedals kinda require a full range signal to function properly) I usually have the pre's/di's in the first signal slot and then feed that to the 'party' pedals (O'drive-dirt-octave-chorus-flange-verb etc.) with the HPF acting as the final gatekeeper, before the power amp. Some folks like to slot their HPF's in different positions, and that's fine too. Whatever works best and to each their own.
With the particular HPF that I use - an SFX Micro Thumpinator, since it's a 'preset and forget' type deal, I've found that through doing the hokey-pokey pedal dance, that it's always ended up sounding and working it's best in the last seat.
Now with the added adjustable HPF and LPF capabilities of the Fdeck and the Broughton, if I were to be using one of those (or similar) pedals- I would probably experiment like most everyone else, but again would likely end up placing it at the end of the signal chain, for much the same reasons why the set level SFX currently occupies that slot.
Like most 'things' when it comes to pedals (especially when it comes to pedals) there are few hard & fast nuggets of 'conventional wisdom'.
Pedals are like paint, in that they color (colour)your sound. And like paints, the combinations that can be used are as varied as the colours themselves.
I tend to view the HPF, as the canvas itself- in that it helps define the boundaries of the soundscape.
And layer all the colours, as it were- on top of it.
Wah is a blast with bass.A pedal not much used by bass players that I used to use a lot is a wah. I bought my first after hearing Miroslav Vitos use a wah playing upright for gen 1 Weather Report. (the raw, organic WR) Don't use one much anymore, but what a great expression pedal.
Attitude problems! Even better! We are a biker gang after all.Really?!?!
Coffee Table?!?!

My lean and trim Thunderbird is a manly Thunderbird

You HAD to say that. Now I gotta give it a try. There's one around here somewhere.........Wah is a blast with bass.
I have a TH, and have minimal likelyhood of ever spending the money on any DG anything. I'll have an Acoustic 360 pedal first. Oh, well.I can't in good conscience agree that this is a bean counter (accountant) thing. Perhaps a process engineer who is trying to make points. But, from a cost point of view, I have to think that the BOM on strings is tiny in comparison to price. There are probably bigger savings available in packaging. Then again, perhaps not packaging - everything has been moved to those mylar packages that cost a fraction of nothing each. If there were a drive to get costs out being lead by the front office, endorsements would be up first. Cut the amount of free product being shipped to endorsed artists, cut the swag, and rationalize the list of endorsing artists.
Cue the cult

Putting the Tone Hammer above a DG product? You will be in trouble with the cult!
Seriously though, why are `bird people so much more rational than the Gen Pop (limited to matters relating to Basses, amplification, and accessories; still plenty of quirks in the club outside that)
GOOD MOVE!!!I skipped the ex and married the trophy wife first. She's even a bit older than me, so I didn't have to rob the cradle either. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
