:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao: Simply awesome! I didn't think the posse had really made any friends over your side

Funny story, my wifes youngest son looks the dead spit of Rimmer. a few years ago for his birthday we took him and his girlfriend to Blackpool to see Billy Conolly. I booked a couple of rooms in a hotel for us all, ours in my name and theirs in the name "Ace Rimmer". When we booked in the girl at reception kept a straight face at his embarrassment, she gave us our keys and we walked off to the rooms; just as we walked away we heard her say What a guy!". We all fell about laughing, I was screaming on the floor it was so funny

He should have answered "Smoke me a kipper. I'll be back for breakfast."

What is the point of a comment like that FFS!! :roflmao:

I do think there are differences though, either you like it or don't but you don't really know why, those little subtle differences that made Stradivarius a genius and Robert Stompworthy merely mediocre

A Strad doesn't have frets, or pickups, and it's hollow and the sound is produced by the resonation of that hollow body. Anyway, I prefer Guarneris.

I work in an anesthesia department, and seriously doubt that...
.
Hiller - some time ago you posted a picture of your "operating room" dungeon and mad doctors. In light of your anesthesia skills you need to post that pic again just to remind some of our new club members that we're a bit backed up on initiations right now but we'll be calling them soon schedule some organ harvesting time. I think we're only one kidney, two ears and a spleen away from that awesome vintage NR bird listed on Reverb. BTW - it's been a few years now and I'm not really missing that left nut I donated when I joined.

You mean for fingerboard woods? I just remember a lecture where Tobias and Sadowsky said it makes the most noticeable difference in sound. I wouldn’t know. It’s interesting to me that my two favorite sounding basses I own both have ebony fingerboards, but that’s hardly proof of anything! I can’t imagine how difficult a true double blind test would be. You’d need two identical basses, you’d want to use the same pickups, so you’d have to swap em out each time. You’d also need the same exact strings, not to mention the same exact performance each time. Someone is more than welcome to do it, but not me! At best you could prove there’s a ‘difference,’ but so what if there was?!

Yes yes. It would be almost impossible. My point is that people hear differences because they see/know of differences.

A few years ago now I sat down and compared my bi-wired* audio setup to a standard audio cable setup. There was no appeciable difference and I ditched the bi-wiring. People 'hear' a difference when they put little cones on the tops of their speakers. The mind hears what it wants to hear.

There's certainly a difference in feel between my rosewood and ebony fretboards, more than that, I couldn't really say for sure.

* Instead of running a single cable from the amp output terminals to the speaker, you run two cables and connect one directly to the bass/mid driver and the other directly to the tweeter.
