Yep back in the days when you could almost see the signal flow. I’m sure you know, but Don’t Touch the terminals on those power supply caps!

Back in highschool, not long after electricity was invented, we had electronics shop. One of my great pranks was to stay a little late in class, then when everyone was gone, go through the drawers of capacitors and charge up a few with a couple of hundred volts. Or put electrolytic capacitors in the receptacles on the desks (the receptacles were operated by the teacher from a main supply). Sometimes both...

Ain't nuthin' stoppin' you from shovin' a Marshall into yer Berg *nudge nudge, wink wink*;):smug:
LOL - I did have a JCM2000 while I had my Bergs, and never once did it even cross my mind to plug my bass into the 2000 and the 2000 into the the Berg 610 or 322. My experience has always been that bass amps make nice clean solid sounding guitar amps but guitar amps make sloppy farty weak sound bass amps. Probably not true across the board but nonetheless it was my prevailing logic at the time, so I never even tried it. The 2000 is long gone, as is most of my ability to play guitar.

I started playing bass in the Navy(Navy musician-tough job-not)using an EB-3[neck pup]into a......7ender Super reverb(4 10s). We were at low volume, basically background music, but it held up well.

I think that there are only a few differences between a good guitar amp and a good bass amp. The tone stacks are somewhat different but the power sections are the same (except that bass amps tend to be higher power). And for the big touring acts, the volume is not coming from the stage, so what you're getting is coming form the DI.

My last big guitar rig consisted of a JCM 2000 100 watt half stack. IMHO... the best modern amp they put out. Mine was the DSL I had no use for that stupid high gain channel. Always preferred the "clean" channel, overdriven. The TSL was just stupid! By the time ya get to the "ultra high gain" (or the 'Norelco' channel, as I call it)... it just didn't even sound like a guitar any more. I really don't understand how that grainy fake "tone" can be considered desirable...

Hey all! I want to build a non reverse T Bird .I was wondering if anyone could trace their T bird body for me.
I can provide the paper and the necessary envelope and postage to get it to me.
I would also need the body width at the end near the bridge.
If there is anything online I could get this from I'd like to know.I did see a diagram with dimensions,
so I'd fall back on that, but a tracing would be great. Thanks! Brian B.

Plus that JCM 2000 has a switching power supply.....Yikes!!!!
They think they're cool cause they went from designing in Milton Keyes to Bletchley Park! Nonsense..

Hmmmm. You need access to a non-reverse `bird, a laser scanner, and a 3d printer.... :D

New string day! Put on a set of EB Cobalt Flats on my 5 string Epi Bird. Decided to try them based on the recommendation of another Club member who shall remain nameless(Jeff). WOW! recorded the sound of the previous strings and the Cobalts playing the same riffs. The Cobalts make it SOUND like a 'Bird even though it has P/J pups. (I only use the P- and, yes, I did try it w/ both). I have to Cut highs to get the sounds I prefer but these things are un-frickin'-real!. Got 'em from the TB store and a shout out to Paul who worked with me when I ordered the wrong set initially. The only "bad" thing is that now I think I'm gonna keep it:D:hyper::bassist:

I'm happy you are enjoying them. I found the cobalt flats really rough on my fingers (but chromes were ok). But I'm finished with flats I think. I prefer nickel rounds these days.

And as long as I am whining about strings. I don't get the love that GHS Boomers get out in GP. I have been trying a set and just don't like them. To my ear, it sounds like I have rubber bands on the bass. I still really like NYXLs but I also owe a thanks to @GBassNorth for getting me to try black beauties. I like the flexibility of round cores at the same tension as a hex core. I have really liked the DR fatbeams, but they didn't last very long.

I'm baffled by how flats of any kind would tear up your fingers. You are unique.

My preferences are getting narrowed down to Black Beauties (and other colors of the same strings) or Cobalt Flats. I expect that's going to be the extent of my string choices after a few more experiments. Beyond that, I'll just see what Mark o' Rock does and has to say about different strings.

and rounds don't chew up your fingers? Do they bleed?
