Awesome!

:woot:Don't look now, but your Spector and a guitar are on fire in the background.;)

So how did the DBird do?

Ha, the smoke machine is under the riser and they have pvc pipes coming out the side facing up. When I would be playing my Taurus pedals, it was shooting smoke right up in my face!!

The Dbird was fantastic. Best neck Zi haveever owned. I had a lot of people flipping out over it.

Cool! Not sure I could get used to fanned frets but I'd sure like to give it a try some day.

I had a Dingwall Super J/P for awhile. Fanned frets took nearly zero adjustment time. Played a gig with mine the day I got it...way up high is a slight adjustment (not that I’m up there often), but the rest is a piece of cake. Played like a dream

I played that D Bird at The Bass Shop - Sweetness, much sweetness. It made me wonder why all basses aren't fretted that way it felt so natural.

:woot:Knock it off you two!
:cool:I see what's going on here, you're trying to talk me into another bass purchase. Will it won't work, the only one in this club with Jedi mind control powers is The Fixer, and he's been strangely silent on the issue. :D

So some of our crew are into pedals. Our band is doing a mishmash of 80s tunes, 3 sets worth, and here and there, we have distortion in the bass. I'm looking at a way to get that, my Trace head doesn't do distortion though ( the Elf gets a little overdrive working, but nothing like what I'm after). So I think I'm looking for a pedal... might also look for an external eq box too, for use with the Elf. I like the sound of that little box, and I'm getting it dialed in as I go, so that's not as big a deal.
So who makes an interesting O.D. pedal that's not a one-trick talking dog? Looking for a little shimmer, a little rancor, a little chainsaw through the White Pages...

Funny, I forgot I had this old thing! Its a Dogtone Bass Fuzz, made by a local tube amp builder named Dick Nudenberg. He had a local cult following here in RI for years, and a couple years ago moved to Arizona.

A friend of mine used to work for him doing surveying, and gave him my phone #. To the chase... we had a few good chats. he turned me on to this bass fuzz to try out, and ended up laying it on me with the request that I pass along the good mojo when I can- as long as it was worth something to me.

He had an old dog he really loved, so he made sort of a memorial to him with some of his projects (edit: his dog was still alive when I was speaking with him, just thought it's notable...). "Dogtone" is one of his old local trademarks in these parts, and everyone who knows him or his work has the story. Very nice guy, I don't even know if he's around anymore. But we'll make some noise with his work this weekend, got a private party to play tomorrow. He said it worked best with a passive bass, he'd used it on his Jazz Bass. We'll be rockin the MIJ P tomorrow.

It runs on a 9v, no external supply. It's got a very saturated, gritty fuzz, controls are, L to R: Vol, Tone, and Drive, the Bias is facing front and center of the box.

I've never really used it, finally have an actual need so I'm making some time with it this a.m. It's early, so the Elf is on headphone detail...

(I realize this is the Thunderbird Club... still looking for a 'Bird over the next few months, saving up. Just sayin)
