Oh, details fer chrissakes! And C12’s, U67’s, Trident console, perfectly tweaked 2” decks, world class room...oh, and David Bowie. Gonna need him too
Your point is spot on though in that tons of gear/fx doesn’t necessarily make a great recording. I love your less is more ethic and I share it!
I’m currently reading Ken Scott’s book “From Abbey Road to Ziggy Stardust.”
He’s such a hero to me
People tried to talk you out of buying that cab? What people and what was their reasoning?
Hey guys. I’m going to ring my own bell here, I hope you don’t mind. The local CBS television station did a little segment on my band. Motley Crue and Gibson Blackbird content included, so it’s Thunderbird related.

Nikki Sixx Blackbird...always nice....looks like your matte is going shiny too.
I didn’t have the head phones but guitar and bass were dominant. Could barely hear bass and vocals.
+1I despise the dumb drama. If ya make good music together, you can dislike each other offstage but keep the music going.

Yeah, she’s getting pretty shiny. Lol. The bass is pretty low in the mix. It is what it is. ![]()

I'm GASing for a LA2A!GAS killing triplets. They cover all requirements, from country to industrial.
I have a Diamond (small form factor) Bass Comp Jr on order - more because I miss the BCP1 and there's one slot left on my pedalboard, than for any serious need.
I've been thinking a backup bass head might be useful (given the unbelievable heat we have every Summer now), but there's no urgency there.
The only other gear I actually need is for recording. Even there, the requirements are minimal. My interface only has 2 inputs, but I reckon you can get pretty good results with a bit of patience. I know someone in these parts hereabout, who recorded an entire album with two mics. I don't know exactly how he did it -- and it's for me to use my own taste and judgement -- but I have my own ideas of what to do. You don't need a ton of fx or plugins. Ziggy Stardust was recorded with a couple of plates, a tape delay and some LA2A and U1176 compressors and it sounds okay.
Love those Birds sweet rig too!
I'm GASing for a LA2A!
Coming for a visit anytime soon?Man Chucky if I were still in S.C. I'd want to hear that thing.
PM me, I worked with the guys in engineering at Universal Audio when working (we all did) as a hardware designer at E-MU/Creative and you probably didn't know that they are in Scotts Valley......the old Sequential Circuits (Prophet 5) gang....I'm GASing for a LA2A!
Orville question - when you took it to single pup status did you move the bridge up up? Or just leave the neck pup in situ ?
Bridge pup - typoWouldn’t moving the bridge be a horrible idea?
