Thunderbird Club

To all of you that jumped in with quick help - a big THANKS!

I thought my Cobalts had purple silks? Could be wrong:/
Looks like you're right!

Wouldn’t they have Cobalt coloured sills ?
LOL - I guess there's one in every crowd. :roflmao:

Purple silks at both ends, looks like we have a visual confirmation on the primary target.

Both of my sets have purple silks.
...and a secondary confirmation!

I think both cobalts and chromes both have purple silks at both ends.
...and a reaffirmation of the confirmations.

I just put Cobalt flats on my VP. They have purple silks.
...and a secondary on the reaffirmation.

Those don't sound like Cobalt flats to me, they have colored silk ends, i forget, blue/purple-ish? here ya go, purple.

...negatory on the original no silk assumption! Rodger that, purple silks, multiple visual sightings!
Target positively ID'd. Permission to engage guitar string storage facility granted, going in for the kill!:woot:

Cobalts are purple, Chromes are blue, installed on a Thunderbird, you'll love them too! Bwaa ha ha!! :D:D:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::bassist::bassist:

Check you calendar, you are a couple of days early. Or several days late.
Ah - :) . we normally practice on Thursdays, so it is always Thunderbird Thursday for me. Last night we did an open mic and I guess I was just so energized from the set - and being around the band - that I subconsciously thought it was Thursday.

Thanks for pointing that out. If you ever send me an email and you get an out of office message from three weeks ago please also chime in!

:rage:Aaarrrggg...

Now that we've established that Cobalt Flats have purple silk at both ends. I've torn the bass room apart looking for them. :bored:No purple silks to be found anywhere! :thumbsdown:I know I had a set, I took them off of the VP a couple of months ago after only a few weeks use. They were still perfectly good, so I don't think I'd have pitched them, but I can't find them anywhere (not even installed on another bass).

:(As much as it pains me to say it, I might have to make a trip to GC this afternoon to buy another set. Unfortunately, the only time I can get there is just after the local high school lets out, which is only a couple of blocks from GC.:banghead:

:eek:Oh well, 110db wank fest, here I come!o_O

I don't know what's worse, dealing with the kids out of school at GC, or on the subway. It's like a bunch of wild animals. Now get off of my fire escape!!

Seems to me that there are three options:

1. Do without (poor option),
2. Learn something that the high school kids are listening to these days (Taylor Swift, Slayer, Sly and the Family Stone, Bing Crosby?) and rock them, or
3. Grab a bass off the wall and plug into the loudest amp you can find and start working on your atonal polyrhythmic freeform jazz exposition piece.

Obviously option 3 is best and you can post the video here.

That's it!
I'll tell the store manager I want to demo a large tube head and a pair of 8x10 cabs!
I'll grab a lime green Bongo bass and do a series of Nickelback songs (not the bass lines, just the melodies) at full volume.
I bet I can empty that store in minutes!

Just scored a Lollar T Bird neck pickup off Reverb for $150. Not that I really ‘need’ one, but come on...$150 :)

Actually, I have hatched something of a plan for it. We’ll see how that goes

That the one I linked about a 1000 pages back? Nice score! Is that going under the mudbucker cover? Inquiring minds.......

Don't do it ... get yourself a Novak EB-BSx instead.

Who said I was gonna put it in the EB3L?! Assuming I keep the EB3L, I’ll be giving Novak a call for sure :)

I have no plans to put it in the EB3L. Kinda thinking it would sound too muddy so far forward

Hey, playing a Thunderbird at a gig tomorrow. Been in the studio all week prepping for a couple years touring with it.

Running some pedals but got some grounding issues.

Can’t tell if it’s the bass or a few issues going on.
I tried others basses and di’s and still had the problem tried a different power supply.

Assumed it was the studio. Got to the gig venue a day early and the issues still there.

When I touch the strings the buzz gets worse.

If I touch the jack it cleans up a bit. If I touch a pedal it cleans it up.

Taking my p bass in case. But trying to sort it out for the gig and for ideally using the thunderbird for the tours.

Bummer. Take ear plugs. Or take a well-strung (ahem!) Thunderbird, and ask to demo their loudest bass amp. Just play with the controls and hit the same note over and over and over. Should clear the wanks out. 8^)

Grate (sic) minds thinking alike.
