Thunderbird Club

Well, my i respectfully say that the voicing control on the Mesa is not exactly a waste of time.

I have an SWR 400s and it has a 'Transparency' knob. A bit can help shape the tone but more leads to unusable territory. As it was a product of the mid 90's, I figure it was addressing an assumed 'need' for a certain kind of tone then.

They exist on CL.
I watch LA, Lancaster, Inland Empire, Bakersfield, San Diego, Etc. pretty regularly. Haven’t seen one that I can recall. Maybe different back east? But I do see GC has various used iterations. Need to do some research. My GC is pretty decent so I’ll start looking at what might be best. Building arsenal for gigging in a Couple of years...I have a retirement plan.

I'm familiar with that one. Thing is, and i know you know this. When you had mentioned mid-sweep, that's parametric eq. Being able to center in on a frequency. But the whole contour thing is usually fixed, that's the issue for me. It's really not adjustable. And often sounds like crap. Uh, hope i didn't say i bad word there. You get what i'm sayin.

We weren't the house band, but got hired to play at a strip club back in PDX.
It was actually a lot of fun and everyone kept it clean (the band anyway) and had a great time.
I came pretty close to getting a gig playing for a swingers' club holiday party. It fell through. I'm not sure what that would have been like.

Looking at budget used amps nearby. Ampeg BA115HP ($250), Fender Rumble 115 ($200), Peavey TKO 80 ($150).
There’s also an Ampeg B1RE ($120), but I’d need to pick a cab.

Any standouts, or keep looking? Mostly for practice for now, but occasionally would be used for back yard jam sessions.
Rumble fan here. Reliable value for cost. Fender is usually decent to deal with re any issues. I love old USA Peavy basses. No longer the same company IMO. I’m not a fan of the bass amps. Other than classic SVT, I’m not an Ampeg fan.

Figures....
Wocka wocka wocka!
