That's awesome! A perfect song for Neil's voice - and his characteristic guitar-tone was distinctly his playing that song. What a trip - he must have loved that experience! (Sir Paul seemed to enjoy it also!)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and make an assumption that Ibanezes from this era all sound good. Bob Mould played an Ibanez Flying V in Husker Du and it sounded great.
The Destroyer had unremarkable stock pickups, mine sounds great now ;)

This thread is DANGEROUS. I have a mere SEVEN basses ( which I used to think was a lot ). Only ONE is a 'Bird. I feel deprived. I am retiring at the end of January so I will not be able to keep up with the rest of you folks, and I will just have to be content with the paltry SEVEN basses that I have - one for EACH day of the week. I think some of you must have warehouses in your yards to store all the 'birds to keep them from flying away. Am I wrong? Am I making a HUGE mistake by retiring and denying myself of more 'birds? What has my life come to? Is there an afterlife where I might obtain more 'BIRDS some day, hopefully far down the road?

Where is my coffee?;)
I don't know how to tell you this Glenn--but you need to keep working!;) And from a medical perspective, get those numbers up.:D

On a serious note, try to own what you love....and can afford. If you were to love only 3 basses and that brings enjoyment, it's all good. It's not about numbers. I have more than I need (15--4 being Birds, one an old Epi Embassy--Nerd-Bird), but most were good deals I've gotten since 1981. (But I would like a '60s NR!) No one didn't eat because of a buy, and I can sell all for what I paid, or in the case of a couple, possibly 10x what I paid. I enjoy each and every one for what they are.

Florida Man Injured While Playing Bass Guitar

Paramedics were dispatched to the "Two Palms Tiki Bar" last night to attend to a local bass guitarist. Reports indicate that his instrument "exploded", slightly injuring the man. One witness said the band was playing "Mustang Sally" when the incident occurred. A responding police officer did not charge the man for attempting to play "Mustang Sally" on a Gibson Thunderbird saying "well I think he learned his lesson". The band completed the set playing songs by the Doors but the bar owner docked the band's pay by $50 for not performing the final set.

....never played or heard one. Any idea if they're any good?

I gave her a brand new set of EMGs and my own custom swirl paintjob, first swirl I ever did. As a hair metal guy and lover of all thing neon, my trusty axe now looks like this -

Will it ever be for sale? Not before I'm dead!
So, are we're counting these as "birds"?
Totally kickazz bass! Love the swirl and color selection. I'd love to hear how you do that.

Those are some insanely long headstocks, talk about hockey sticks!

Jesus! I thought I was bad at 7 basses and 6 guitars (the guitars are all flip projects, I can't play them). :jawdrop:
If she's anything like my wife she probably retorts something about your friends jumping off a bridge. :cautious:
Honestly, the main thing that keeps my "collection" in check is my wallet. We're in a constant state of disagreement. :roflmao:

My wife doesn't use the "jumping off the bridge" example. She just points out that my friends make more money than I do. That's when I point out the SHE makes more money than me and needs to keep me in the lifestyle I have become accustomed to. :roflmao::roflmao: Sometimes I don't remember what happens after that but I wake up with a headache. :banghead:
