As @Gaolee says, the older bolt neck models have wider necks. You can usually tell the width at the nut by the headstock on the bolt neck models. The thin necks angle to the right, while the wider necks have a more "straight ahead" headstock.

Thin neck (Yes, I know this is from a neck thru but it holds true with the newer bolt models).

I will have to take a look at my bolt-on. Its neck is a fistfull. I did not know you could tell the difference from looking at the headstock.

Auto correct on my phone really sucks. Just a fact.

He was a long distance motorcycle rider. That explains a lot. There is more Zen and less interaction involved.

I've bought the white VP, and an a few years back an Ampeg Heritage 410 from them with no problems. They seemed to have delayed the shipment of the VP and when I asked they apologized moved it to priority shipping. I suspect they get a huge amount of returns in a day, thus a lot of turnover. If it seems good enough, go for it. I sure got a great deal on mine from them.

And there's this on Reverb... Might be less money depending on the ad you saw and free shipping. I don't get the used stamp and have never seen that. But....

Nope... not medical ESP. I remember at the launch of the R40 that the speculation was that Neil was the reason it was going to be their last tour and it was for "failing health" but no mention of his cancer fight.

Neil didn't want to tour any more for a couple of reasons.

First is that he didn't like touring and hadn't liked it since very early on (late 70s early 80s) according to one of his books (can't remember the title but the one about his multi-year NA motorcycle tour following the deaths of his wife and daughter).

Second, he was suffering from arthritis. Whereas many of us have been suffering arthritis since mid 40s, for a drummer that performs for 3 hours a night pounding hard, is truly suffering. Geddy and Alex tell stories of Neil hobbling out to the drum kit for the show, performing flawlessly, then hobbling off stage. He apparently suffered a great deal of pain following shows.

Neil's own description was that he could play like Charlie Watts for many more years, but that it wasn't what he wanted to do.
