Meanwhile, i *did* just pay for the VP from @DWLANG . As much as I'd like white, I decided to just take the gorgeous bass at the great price. I can always refin my Epi IV later if I feel the need.

Great question, interesting answers so far.
If I want grit grind and growl out of a bass I run the bridge pup up as close to the strings as I can get it when depressed at the last fret (the setting on my VP). If I want a bass to be a smooth pocket player I drop the bridge pup lower than the neck pup (my Anniversary Tbird).

Very cool! You have great stage presence and a killer bass. The band sounded pretty tight for only one rehearsal, well played! I'm so used to seeing the bass player in many bar bands keeping a keen eye on the guitarist or drummer for timing and change up clues, in your case it looked like the guitarist was watching you for clues. Pass on a thumbs up to the band for me. Also, you're in the LA area - let me know where you guys are performing and I'll try to stop by for the show sometime.

pretty sure the Used stamp and the gold SN sticker means it is a 2nd and has been refurbished by a US company.

At least that’s what the internet told me when looking for my Goths SN (also on a gold sticker)

I usually have the neck pickup about the same distance from the strings as the bridge. It means the bridge is raised nor from the body of the guitar unless I forgot one that is the other way around. The bridge is usually rolled off and is there to provide some balance but not a lot more than that. Take this as what a weekend warrior and hack does, not as a great idea.

Burgundy Mist Metallic occupies entirely too much of my thoughts. I fear expect that the Pro-V may have that in it's future along with new electronics (not designed by a witch). Curse you @Gaolee and thanks.;)
