Thunderbird Club

Well, since now I'm officially #797 proud member of Thunderbird Club, I thought I'd share with you my first gig with the '06 Gibson Tbird with my rock band 47 de Fevereiro. What a sound and what a mojo!!!!!

The new TBird fits perfectly, welcome to the club! I've seen some of your videos on YouTube - You guys ROCK! Post a clip when you get a chance and let us know if your band tours this side of the Atlantic.

I think a trip to Portugal would work for me, I've always wanted to visit.

Well, I am officially retired TODAY as of 11:30 AM. Now I have the time to write more songs, play more bass, get decent on guitar, go to the gym 3 times a week, learn Spanish, then Italian, see more of the kids and girlfriend, and still have some leftover time to drool over the Thunderbirds posted here! :smug:

From one Glenn to another..Congratulations and Cheers!

What strings do you guys use on the Tbird?
Lots of different strings are good. I have been happy with DR Black Beauties and EB Cobalt Flats. Several people here touted Ken Smith Bass Burners, so I tried them. The set I got was a little heavier than the string I usually use. I do not remember exactly, but something like 50 or 55 to 110. They feel good but did not sound quite right at first. After a few hour of playing time, they seem to have broken in nicely and sound great. Tapes sounded very good on a Thunderbird as well. I don't think you can go wrong by much, but you may have to do a bit of experimenting to find the right sound for what you do and how you do it. Not a bad problem to have!

And then there is the sound color thing.

Ive been looking through the local listings. Is the Epiphone T-Bird Classic Pro a big step up from a Epiphone T-Bird. I’m just a beginner and wont be gigging. Thanks
Yes and no. It is a big step up in lots of ways, but in others, it is just different. I have several other Thunderbirds, but I still keep a bottom of the line bolt-on because I like it for what it is.
