It’s a mid 90s Epiphone, made in Korea, came with some anemic PJ style pickups, thought it might be fun to try these Peavey pickups in it, truth be told I haven’t heard it yet, the luthier who did the work sent me that pic and I thought it looked too cool not to share!

That looks great!! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you have tried it out.

Good evening everyone, just doing my part for Thunderbirds and tubes!
Spending a little time in the man cave commiserating with my basses and drinking tea. I have been having a bit of fun with the Guitar World transcription of NIB by Black Sabbath, especially the part I believe was called Bassically on their first album. By running the 'bird through the Blowtorch, then Bass Chorus Deluxe, then the Cry Baby, I can get a very sweet sound. Certainly not Geezer's, but at least in the ballpark. Great fun. I hope everyone has a relaxing evening, Friday is getting closer.

been trying to lose some weight and get a bit fitter. Been doing ‘ParkRun’ on a Saturday (as a walker) when the course isn’t flooded, or the air too smoky. Stepped it up last Thursday and did boxing fitness class.
Since I cooled down that afternoon been having a sore neck that doesn’t want to turn to the left and bad headaches. Yesterday, headaches retreated but the pain started extending into my left shoulder.
Went to a physio yesterday and he has helped my neck quite a bit, back again tomorrow. He thinks I have a small tear in my left rotator cuff as well.

Odd week, not comfortable. I’m not boxing today.
Lol, I went back to my Wing Chun club after a year, went hard at some drills and next day found I'd seriously aggravated frayed tendons in both my shoulders.
Stupid work... anyway yeah. Health. Pffft...

“Nearly four decades ago, the Thunderbird bass design was introduced by Gibson.”

that Sweetwater page for the std IV Vintage Sunburst.

Epiphone Thunderbird IV - Vintage Sunburst

so now we have proof from the net that the mighty THUNDERBIRD was first introduced in both the late 1950s and the early 1980s.

They told you not to screw with time, Avengers, but would you listen? Nooo...

WHAT THE HECK?
The above page and everything else I recall seeing claims the Epi TB IV (bolt-on) has a 1.73” nut.
I measured mine to verify what replacement to get. I measured it several times because... it’s 1.5”, same as my VP. And the nut fits the neck; the fingerboard isn’t .23” wider at the nut.

I'm thinking about putting some chrome on my TBird (swapping tuners, bridge and pickup covers). This is probably a silly question, but can I leave the stock pickups and just upgrade the capsules? Or do I need to change the pickups? That's a way more expensive route, and I love the sound of the original ones.View attachment 3713837
Personally, I’m not a fan of the black hardware (tuners, bridge, strap pins), so I’m glad that my ‘19 Bird came stock with chrome. I can live with the black pups, as they sound so good I don’t want to mess with them...
(I did add chrome indicator washers under my three knobs)

Maybe it depends on the year?
Maybe I got a neck meant for one of the other bolt-on lines?
Either way, it explains part of why I love this thing.
