Thunderbird Club

It's a sad day when I'm the one keeping people on track.
What the Dimarzio sounds like in the Kellybird.

Loving these videos! You ever going to use the Ampeg?
Also, you might want to wait a second after playing before you talk; it takes that long for some AVC to bring your voice back in.

I used to use it at the rehersal studio then I cooked the speakers, I'll get some new drivers eventually. Great sounding little rig.

Okay, I've decided to end my silly, self-imposed exile. I guess I have been in such a funk over everything happening that I lost sight of a simple fact: isolating myself even more than I already am is just plain dumb. This is a tremendous group of people and why turn my back on that. :smug:
Oh, and THUNDERBIRD
:hyper::hyper::hyper:
Glad you're back Glen. As the great Canadian philosopher (maybe the only one worth paying any attention to), once said, "We're all in this together. Keep your stick on the ice." (Prof. Red Green)

A violinist friend of my wifes lives in Nawleans.[1] She goes into her yard every day and plays for people passing by. She takes requests, too. Her neighbors love it. I could do that with bass, but (a) precious few people want to hear bass playing by itself, (b) I'm OK but not great, and (c) we live in a neighborhood with huge lots, and there's only about one hour in the morning and one in the evening where you'll see more than the occasional jogger (with earbuds). During those hours, you might get 2-3 people every 15 minutes.
Still the violin videos are fun to watch.
I may try, anyway (except without taking requests). We'll see.

[1] Technically New Orleans, for those unfamiliar

I would never betray the JC megathread like that!.... OK.. here's one borderline erotic JC pic for you ;)

Nothing borderline about that one, she's sweet. I guess the silverburst is the only JC with a black pup. Kat wants it if you ever take it out. Also, looks like you went with a Hipshot bridge. Did that work ok on the curved body?

I just wish they would do a REAL sunburst. I mean, the tobacco bursts and all are lovely, but let's have a for real sunshine burst with a big, yellow center, then red, then black or close to it!
I'd like Something like this...

Or even this...

Hopeless geek heaven. Endless wires, mics, (mostly ribbons) and ideas about what might make my crappy drumming sound acceptable. No band practice does not mean no noise. If it all starts to make sense, there might be some Thunderbird tracks in the future. Come to think of it, the bass drum could have a thunderbird on the resonant head. That would be good.View attachment 3751891 View attachment 3751892

The bug can just bugger off for now.
Nice!

Dude - just to be fair, you know the next time you play a Fender bass you'll have to run it through one of these...

BTW - am I the only fool in this club that actually runs his/her Gibson bass through a Gibson amp (updated to Thunderfunk, but essentially the same)...

I haven't found one around here at a price I was willing to pay, or I would. I did practice exclusively through my Kalamazoo Bass 30 until I got the Rumble. Not great, but it worked.

...The Rumble amps have an o/d circuit-I don't use o/d-that works as 'mute' if both knobs are at 7 o'clock-off.

That's what I use mine for, a mute. Found that trick in the Rumble thread- the only one I read consistently besides this one. You may have even been the person I learned it from. Those little beasts just love Thunderbirds.
