Thunderbird Club

I've been using Whirlwind cables for ages. Only one ever failed on me, promptly replaced by the company. They're in upstate NY.
My favorite years ago for practice and live settings was a Whirlwind half coiled and half straight. I had the coiled section at the amp. It was nice in that if gave some freedom, but would naturally retract itself a little so I didn't have to be fooling with where the cable was while playing.

Nice. I know @godofthunder59 also uses Whirlwind.

I hope so!
It's my birthday today, the wife wanted to get me another Thunderbird (used one from reverb that I've been looking at) but I told her I'd take a rain check until Gibby/Eppi release their new offerings in the spring. I'm really hoping they launch something exciting, otherwise I might snag a JC Gold top.

Cobalt flats are mentioned in this club often. Now I can finally give my 2¢ (but haven't mounted them yet).

First thing I did - thanks to you guys and gals - was note that they're a little smoother than TIJF (but it's close so you might have to use a fingernail). Pleased.

Second, I noticed that they're a little more flexible than TIJFs. Surprised.

Then, I noticed that they are round core! Big surprise! (I wasn't thinking about the hex/round issue when I ordered them.)

Now suddenly optimistic that they might be an alternative to either TIJF or TIJR.
I just put some on my VP. Pretty sure the packaging said they are hex core.

Ampeg SVT Micro VR Stack vs. Fender Rumble 200?

I currently have a Fender Rumble 200 (and a Rumble 500) and they both sound great w/ my Epi T-Bird VP.

I've read alot about the magic between Ampegs and T-Birds, so been wondering if anybody has the Ampeg SVT Micro VR stack and can share some insight?

Not quite, but I can tell you for rock gigs, I love running my PF50T with 2 x 210AV cabs.

CORRECTION
I WAS WRONG:
The core of Cobalt flats maybe has rounded corners or something, but it is not round.
Very sorry.
I asked the management to delete my post in the Strings subforum about this.

I think the rest of the quoted post is right. Think I'll go rest my fevered brow for a while.

Technically today's my birthday and our anniversary, but as Sharon has a cold, we'll celebrate later.
Looks like I'm in truly great company! Happy b'day brother!
Pass an Anniversary congrats on to the missus from me as well.

So, how does everyone connect their THUNDERBIRD to whatever is next in the chain (board, amp, DI, whatever)? I've tried a few cables, and so far the only one I really liked was one I made. Unfortunately I'm not sure what specific cable I based it on, as it's a few decades old.
If I get cables, I want some that just lay wherever I haul them and don't fight me, grab, tangle, etc. I'm open to a good wireless, but it would have to be rechargeable and preferably the receiver would run off standard 9V power. I'd as soon avoid USB if possible.
I love the Planet Waves (now D'Addario company) cable with the mute button built in. Works perfectly for instrument switches without that annoying pop. Just get the shortest cable that you can live with, I've noticed longer cables in many instances distort the sound of the bass.

LOL - haven't been called "young man" in quite a while. Thx for the well wishes.
