Thunderbird Club

Re the Studio, it's a great variation on the traditional concept, and while I've traded out the stock TB Plus pickups in some of my other Birds, I wouldn't dream of it with this one. When you pair it up to Ken's favorite SIT Power Steel strings it's a bit of a monster, I only wish I'd gotten one sooner.
The Power Steels really are a good match with the Tbird + PUPs. They’re really great on my NR.

oh my, my....look what I found....love these Thompson Trophy racers and the William Bros for reproducing them...they have since been rebranded (all five brothers passed) but the original vintage box art remains the cooolest by far......these are not for the beginner but man, so rewarding when they come out right....:hyper:

Oh yeah! I have a few in the stash!

funny, the bottom two from my pic inspired the one on the left, the one on top, the one to the right....feel for poor Yamamoto in his last moments, just there like a sitting duck on a Betty bomber with no escort and seeing 22 (no less:eek:) P-38s (right) swarming in after him....YIKES!...

Don’t know how you guys are so lucky, but I’m being told I’ll be lucky to get one by March.
Looks like April for me according to my doc. My wife subs since retirement where our nephew is Asst Principal and she is on the list and might get it in a week or so. People my age late 50's (still working!) aren't even on the list unless you have serious health problems.

It’s not often I see a NR on my local CL:

Are these heavy? I just checked and the trim ring from a China bucker will cover a bridge size J route.
The guy from Chiliwack must be a TBer. He knew to get his house shoes in the pic!

My wife is on the list too. Thank god.

yep, thought about doing that as well and the PG takes care of the neck pup...almost like Eppi did it intentionally...@GonePlaid recently sold a 5 string and would know on weight..

I have a few of their HO scale vehicles. And their PT-17 Stearman-also HO.

Exactly. That’s what I figured would happen with the vaccine rollout. The elderly and those with comorbidities lose out to the privileged and well-connected.
Let's see.... I'm old and heavy. Where do I sign up.(Actually the local VA is taking those over 75(me)w/o appointments)

My buddy that passed a few years ago apparently had a model addiction. I’m looking at all his gear with his brother and Scott pulls the back off the old Fender 2x12 cab and it was full of plane models. Some boxes contained 2 or 3 kits. The closet was also full.

My EpiBird 5er was heavy-ish, didn't like the P/J, wasn't mahogany(I knew those 2 b4 buying it)and the neck profile hurt my hand. With the negatives, I gave up on the idea of spending money on pups and still not like it. Tweechie zone.

So, how does everyone connect their THUNDERBIRD to whatever is next in the chain (board, amp, DI, whatever)? I've tried a few cables, and so far the only one I really liked was one I made. Unfortunately I'm not sure what specific cable I based it on, as it's a few decades old.
If I get cables, I want some that just lay wherever I haul them and don't fight me, grab, tangle, etc. I'm open to a good wireless, but it would have to be rechargeable and preferably the receiver would run off standard 9V power. I'd as soon avoid USB if possible.

@Nocturnal is the one to talk to about them. Good thing seller still has the white PG...

I don't think of them as heavy, but long and thicker than a Gibson NR. The body is the same thickness as a P or J body so its not a small bass. The neck is more like a P bass, or an older Goth neck IMO. They don't sound like a Thunderbird with those pickups, but Bird pickups would take it a long way towards it. Never heard of a Bada$$ 5 bridge that looked like this. This looks llke the ABM style Epi bridge that I added to my NR's. You could sell the pickups in this one and get a set of the ChinaBuckers for it. Or leave it as is and play it when you need a 7ender sound in Tbird clothing.

In celebration of today - I am playing my '63 Burns of London Vista Sonic while watching various 'American exceptionalism' propaganda that I approve of. Yes - doesn't have any correlation... just the way it ended up! Hint; relative theme is "I'm happy", "celebratory", grabbed a bass I was neglecting, and looking forward to rehearsing again with my band again very soon! :bassist:
