Thunderbird Club

Today's SXCL lunchtime concert was the Sue Foley Trio. Joining Sue were Glenn Fukunaga (killer bass player, and he wore a mask) and Corey Keller (great drummer). No Thunderbirds, alas, but some killer blues. Thinking back over 225-250 work-sponsored concerts, I think I have seen exactly one Thunderbird on any of our stages. (Last year and this year, concerts are via zoom, but I still call it our stage.)

I got my Goth and fell in love. Then a week or so later the blackbird landed on eBay! I have to admit it wasn’t listed quite right. It didn’t say Epiphone anywhere in the listing. Or blackbird so I don’t think it got noticed. It also didn’t say thunderbird.
Basically I got it at a ridiculously low price in my opinion. Just over £200!! it’s fantastic! So I went from no tbirds to 2 within a couple of weeks. Couldn’t be happier.
what do people think of the price I paid
Be good to get some reassurance I got a good deal.

That's a great score! Wuhoo!

My last gig (a week or so ago) I was the only one wearing a mask. Audience were eating and drinking, nobody on stage — band members (apart from myself) and guests — were masked up.

GOOD ON YAH!

Brother's a nurse, this C19 poop is still real despite vaccines going out, yet people are letting their guards down.

So, East Hastings has a studio hidden somewhere? Who knew!?!

Great vid!
Thanks, everyone else had masks on until the actual shoot, and I didn’t see a reason to take mine off.

It’s an Arts studio space in the Woodward’s building. As I walked out the front door, there was a guy smoking crack right there making no attempt to hide it.

I haven't played her for a while but I've recently got my Vintage Pro back from my tech, fully set up. I went for DR Hi Beams as I've used them on my Rickenbacker with great results.

Wow! I'd forgotten what an absolute joy this bass is. And these strings are magnificent. I hate to say it but the Rick feels like a bit of a brick in comparison.

I dug out another bit of gear I hadn't used in a while - my Tech 21 Leeds preamp. It's a magnificent pedal. I easily dialled in the Entwistle Who's Next/Quadrophenia tone, and with the treble cranked a bit it gave me a very convincing Chris Squire Fish Out Of Water tone.

Right now, I couldn't be happier!

Veronica - you have a bunch of great videos, but this one is my favorite at showcasing your awesomeness on stage with a TBird in your hands. You just tore it up! Sounded better than the Bangles bass player if that's even possible.

Thank you, George. I think the Bangles use a synth bass track that's pre-recorded on their live stuff and the original, I'm giving it blunt force with a pick and some clank for definition.........I miss playing!

Ahhh yes, the Woodward's Building community-integration project, whatever its official name — glad to hear that's finally worked out well.

Encroaching gentrification has shrunk East Hastings area down to... two-block radius? More rats, smaller cage...

Visiting my old stomping grounds Dec 2019, took my wife past there, quickly.

IIRC, that's also the one with canned drums. The drummer wasn't happy about that.

I try not to judge, but it’s a mess. I’m pretty happy in Suburbia.

Conversion online says that’s about $350 Canadian. Anytime you can get a bass you love for that kind of money, you’ve done well.

Not a Goth but I’ll give a little love to my bolt on.

Thunderbird IV Metallic Red

In honor of our newest club member @Yrag

My main player right now. Really loving the tone cap switch and the Hipshot bridge. She's a beast.

I wasn't even aware Eppi made a Candy Apple Red TBird until just a few days ago when I ran across one on Craigslist and flagged it for one of our Red Bird lovers here in the club. If she hadn't bought I would have. CAR is a beautiful color on the TBird. You and @KaraQ might be the only two club members with that color. I think our Club leader used to have one and converted it to a Fenderbird.
