I'm anti-cool apparently. I have no urge at all to have a NR. Even if it's a '65 with covers. Go figure. I suppose if Gibson had decided to paint one of the new ones Burgundy Mist Metallic, I might have to rethink this a little, but they didn't. So, I remain completely anti-cool.
I've had my 67 NR since 73. Up until last year, I'd never even held an R. I was sitting as it had no strap and it wasn't plugged in (GC), but it felt strangely familiar. Might consider a VP to be able to semi-retire the 67. Or an Embassy PRO. Or not. Kinda hard to justify anything under current conditions.

was it a VP?

I know he does, he's a sharp cat. All the folks I know here are cooking with gas... I think that's part of what makes us bass players, quite honestly. Well, you guys anyway! Me, I have good days...

It's cool; we're all on a journey. You know, like when you're waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you don't know for sure. But it doesn't matter...

I honestly don't remember. I was in WPB for something else and near the GC so I stopped in to see if they had anything I couldn't live without(no). There was one R TBird hanging on the wall and as I'd never held one, I took it down and f---ed* with it a little. I was like a 60's video: no amp, not even a cable. Just wanted to see how it felt. I could live with it, esp. since I don't stand to play these days.

What's important is getting on the train - once it leaves the station you will only be left with questions if you're not on it.

The brown truck brought something fun today. It popped up on GC's site the other day and I couldn't pass it up. It was a total of $342 shipped with the fitted Epi case. I had a $50 gift card so I actually paid $292 for it. It is need of a proper cleaning and the strings are beyond dead but those things are easily remedied. Has a few scratches on the back but still in great overall condition. Well worth the price of admission.

Just kickin around the web today and noticed some of the Eppi Ltd Ed birds have pups like yours (same shape as my Goth pups as well) but others have plastic trim Chrome pups like these...

Any insight on what these pups sound like vs the non trim ring Eppi pups?
@MCF - IIRC you might have both style pups in your different blue birds, feel free to chime in as well.

The buzz is that those are guitar pickups- or they're the same ones used on some Epi guitars.

I can't speak for all of the limited runs from Epi, but the silverburst I bought for Uwe had guitar pickups. The underside of the pickup was identical to Epi humbuckers from other guitars (not basses). I don't know if it is the same for all of the limited runs with humbucker-sized pickups, but it is probably a safe bet. Sounded good so that was really all that mattered.

Take two of these. Repeat every five minutes until unpleasant smells go away.*

*THIS IS NOT REAL MEDICAL ADVICE.
For accurate medical advice google the "PillO Watermelon Enema" solution.
...and if you buy the PillO Watermelon Enema be sure to spend extra for the seedless solution!

Interesting. So the guitar pups sound good, that's encouraging. Now that you have your CAR Eppi, would you say the guitar pups sound as good as it? I've played Ltd edition Eppi birds with the non trim ring pups and liked the deep dark sound but was concerned that the trim ring (guitar) pups might not be as deep or rich sounding.

The PB and Silverburst LEs sound similar with Superbrights that are on them. Still nice ballsy low end. They’re great Thunderbirds! Try it, you’ll like it. So now I have to compete with you too as I want to complete the set with white, ebony, red and TV Silver. Can’t even think of doing that now with the new Gibbys coming.
