Although there are exceptions, nickel feels smother than most steel strings. But since I’m not in the Princess Fingers Club, I’m keeping Power Steels on the NR. I may put a set on the VP next change as well.what’s the appeal of nickel over steel?

I'm in the Chicago burbs and have to agree that traveling on the L would suck with the hard case. I'm positive you are doing what works best for you. Sorry if I caused any angst, wasn't intended in that manner. Also, I've been using this bag for my Thunderbird for about eight years, in and out of the NYC subway system, slamming the top into low-hanging stuff more times than I'd like to remember, and neither the case nor the Thunderbird is any worse for the wear. I totally trust these things.
ever try a BaCH?I’d like to build a NR closer to the 60s versions.
Curious now.So the big conversation seems to be on the subject of string (theory) and the debate of which ones to use. Have any of you tried String Joy
www.stringjoy.com ? They are made in Nashville. Any of you that have tried them, what are your
thoughts??
Thanks. No prob.I'm in the Chicago burbs and have to agree that traveling on the L would suck with the hard case. I'm positive you are doing what works best for you. Sorry if I caused any angst, wasn't intended in that manner.
super hard to find is the only problem with BaCHever try a BaCH?
My personal preference is nickel, it has a tendency to be warmer with a bit less top end and a little less agressive on the frets. I'm sure there are exceptions but that has been my general experience, hence the search for some interesting nickel Rounds for my Greco.what’s the appeal of nickel over steel?
Mine's not hard to find at all, it's right here next to my Greco.super hard to find is the only problem with BaCH
That doesn’t sound right. It’s clearly broken. I’ll dispose if it properly if you’ll just ship it here.My personal preference is nickel, it has a tendency to be warmer with a bit less top end and a little less agressive on the frets. Although I'm starting to get cold feet thinking about removing these TI Flats. I just wrapped up about two hours of playing along with Pandora on random songs from every genre you can imagine and with a quick right hand location adjustment it fit nearly everything perfectly.
I am eager to hear more about the new NR 'Birds. I am so very tempted to order one.I played the new Nonreverse today, they are not available for sale yet (the date is June 29 incidentally my bday) I was impressed. Hipshot ultralight tuners, alnico V pickups. It is bassesd on the 2013 release. The faded Pelham Blue finish is beautiful looks almost like a jade green. Still waiting for the Inverness Green that I ordered.
gonna keep it stock?Mine's not hard to find at all, it's right here next to my Greco.View attachment 4253438

Put a Lull in that BaCH, just sayin'
If one was able to find a BaCH sometime this month, would that make it a Maybach?Put a Lull in that BaCH, just sayin'
I put the Greco in mine, the Greco has a Chinabucker, as I figured the later NRs were hotter so the Greco seemed appropriate in it, but I'm thinking I'll switch the Greco pickup back into the Greco bass and get a Thunderbucker for the BaCH
ya but your BaCH isn't for sale now is it?Mine's not hard to find at all, it's right here next to my Greco.View attachment 4253438
It was mostly because I was using the BaCH more and I like that pickup so much. Will once we get back to gigging. The Epi is getting all the play time right now.Put it back to original......I have ChinaBuckers in my Orville, they're OK, but.......
not familiar with Lull TBird pups.....is there more than one model?Put a Lull in that BaCH, just sayin'
