Thunderbird Club

Bummer of a week that has culminated in a bummer of a day. My father-in-law has been ill and in the hospital for several weeks with one then then another. They never could make progress on the things that popped up. We met today and agreed nothing else can be done and it's best to move him to palliative care. Now we wait. He will be spared dialysis which he was headed for in the near future and for that I'm thankful. Unlike some in-law situations, we were great friends. He was like my second dad. We loved talking and killing time, talking his farm stories, NASCAR, cars and Bluegrass music to drive the ladies crazy. Never had an argument in 38 years and no regrets between us. Love your loved ones while you can. (Please, no need to comment. That's not at all why I mentioned this. We all go through tough times and hate to see anyone even online acquaintances go through a difficult patch.)
I am just seeing this (had to go back and find it) My heart goes out to you. And prayers.

I'm blessed with a great FIL. As I was with my MIL who passed in October of '19. Cherish the memories.

You don't know about green eggs (typically paired with ham)? I read a really informative book about them recently...
Green Eggs and Ham: Amazon.ca: Dr. Seuss: Books
or in Spanish
Huevos verdes con jamón Green Eggs and Ham Spanish Edition: Amazon.ca: Dr. Seuss: Books
Other works by that author…

Thank you Marshall. Seems like he will pass maybe tomorrow according to the way things look. As most know, the waiting both somewhat helps prepare and is itself another form/source of pain.

I hear so many bad situations with in-laws that at times I think I'm the only one with great relationships with mine. Well, they did do about as well as they ever could have hoped for in a SIL. ;)

I get along well with most of Sharon's fam most of the time, and she gets along well with most of mine most of the time. We both miss the three deceased parents (both hers, and my Mom #1).
