Nile Rogers is a great producer and I have enjoyed a great deal of what he has done. The entire genre wasn't bad, but there was a lot of terrible music in it. Perhaps no more than other genres. Perhaps just memorable due to my age and its pervasiveness at the time.

Hint on the hipshot - I put one on my Goth to end a chronic anchor lift problem only to find that the hipshot started to lift as well. Solved that problem, I Fenderized the hipshot with five bridge screws and she holds fast now. That’s not to say you should do that to a pristine vintage bird, but I bring it up to point out how important it is to make sure those anchors are seated really good first regardless of which bridge you use.

Yep. I'm sure you know this, but as a reminder, recall that the ground wire connects to the G string side insert. Be very careful if gluing the insert in to be sure the connection is maintained.

Most of the music that gets played is terrible. The stuff we remember is what wasn't terrible, which is why people think music of the past was so great. It wasn't. Most of it was awful but managed to get forgotten. In 20 years, there will be people thinking wistfully back on 2021 and how great the music was.

I played a show at one point, and there was a power trio made up of high school girls on the bill. They smoked all of us, but they were pretty funny about things. They told me that I was "soooo lucky" to have been around in the '80s. All I could think was "huh?" They only know the good stuff from then, not all the garbage that was polluting the soundwaves. They will be having the same conversations with somebody 30 or 40 years from now. Chances are, I won't.

There's songs I hate listening to, but have a blast playing. Actually, there's not much I don't enjoy playing, so that makes me a musical slut instead of musical ho, right?

It's funny. As I've been learning songs, there are some I've picked that I generally wouldn't listen to, but have great lines that make me a better player. I could play Fleetwood Mac, Springsteen, Beatles, Bowie, Costello, Clash, Pretenders etc all the time and be perfectly content. But then I wouldn't develop into the versatile player I want to become.

My brother lived in Livermore for years and he shared what he and his wife paid in taxes both income and property... it was a bunch but they made a bunch combined. He fled for Tucson a couple of months ago to escape the taxes.

I'm really curious on the pickups and will await your inspection of them, since you mention an overall lower output I'm thinking they're based on '76 components, it will be interesting to see. I'm surprised you can't get a nice low action with the shallow pitch neck - how is it's relief?

Here's the bridge on mine, I have a nice low action set up on it - the late Mike Lull could work wonders!

I was also thinking about 76 components, I read somewhere here that they have the lowest output of the bunch. But we’ll know soon.

About the relief, the neck is quite straight, and the trussrod works fine. I was thinking of trying to increase the tension slightly, but have not jet.

So everything seems fine, straight, and not bent in any direction. So did it came out like this from the factory? I don’t know. Looking at your bridge sadles, they look lower than the ones on mine, so maybe some filing would help?

I have yet to like any winner of the Eurovision song contest. The songs seem to represent (to me) the worst, most forgettable, pop shlock.

But the contest did introduce me to Fire Saga who excelled in both song writing and stage performance...

Lordi was actually quite good… But maybe I’m biased, as I know the drummer and some of their roadies…
