So glad my hand is in layers of plaster. I don't have to feel inadequate about my playing.

In 64 or 65, Dad bought a thoroughly used Renault that somewhat resembled the Beetle. He paid $99, IIRC. Super basic, ran fine, plus holes in the floor. The latter turned out to be handy in El Paso flash floods, while he got home wet, he could at least keep driving when everyone else found high ground to park or floated away.

Had the pleasure of hanging out with Will @Gaolee tonight at our gig in Goldendale, WA.

It will come as a shock to no one that Will is an awesome human being. Seriously funny and interesting. Had a great time and hope he didn't think we sucked too bad!
Another friend drove in from Boise and let me play his '73 Ric 4001 and I gotta say it was the nicest Ric I've ever played. 10 more minutes and you coulda played it too, Will!

I had my surgery follow up today!

TL;DR
Expecting a positive outcome. Now I need my new Thunderbird

The longer story
The 5lb plaster boxing glove is off. I finally got to see the surgical wound. I washed my hand which relieved the persistent itching! And stitches are out.

I now embark on the rehab. There is still a fair bit of swelling. This week is passive flexion (no extension yet) and I have a new, light weight removable splint to maintain the partial flexion when I am not doing the rehab. But no more showering with a bag on my hand!

In terms of surgical outcome, results were excellent. But the reality of any orthopaedic surgery is that long term results are directly correlated to following rehab.

For those who would like to see pictures of the surgical scar with and without stitches - you're sick!

Now the race is on: can I complete enough rehab to play my new Thunderbird when it comes in?

All great news but I'm really looking forward to the even better news that you're playing again and pain free! Best of luck with the rehab and recovery. It sounds like you're going to follow the doctors orders and not rush things and that's a good thing.

Still waiting for my NR to show up, I may have shifted on the color and go with the Burgundy. Honestly I sould have grabbed the first faded Pelham Blue one that showed up at the HOG.
In the meantime I am finding other ways to fritter away my money. This 70's Aria EB3 copy followed me home from the HOG yesterday. I gave it a good setup plays great, nice low action. Pickups are very usable, the bridge unit is very strong. Lots of fun for little dough, won't intonate for a damn though.

My tracking estimate says today, but it's not out for delivery yet. So I'm thinking possibly tomorrow. But, I have had things not show "out for delivery" until later in the day, so we shall see....
