Thunderbird Club

Don't know if you caught it, but her first boyfriend is a very young Bill Nye (the Science Guy)

Then there's this, with apologies to my esteemed Canadian friends......
High-Five'n White Guys In Canada - YouTube

Was not aware of that - funny skit regardless. Yep - the Reagan/Thatcher years ... conservatism = being mainstream hip ~ :bag: hated it then and glad those days are behind us.

Actually, Gibby did do tort on a bass, I have one - the 2013 EB5. It was almost like Gibson was trying to out Fender Fender…

This was part of the tit for tat Fender/Gibson back & forth that happened then. As in, Gibson making Fender-esk products and Fender making Gibson-esk products. ... as long as it does the job...

Oh yah, aware of that song. Saw Huey Lewis in the SF airport once many years ago. It was him - kind of a short guy, very tanned and unquestionably him. We passed heading to our gates. He & "the News" made their mark in the local pizza bars of the East Bay here. Very '80s.

So...by reading the reviews of his review, I saved myself the trouble of watching.

A casualty of the internet - only believe a third (or fourth) party's opinions ~ "oh... didn't read the book, but the brother of his second cousin said it sucks, so it must suck" (WADR)

As a bass-player, it's a technique that one excels at or isn't interested in. I am impressed with any player who 'slaps' well within a given context. Certain styles of music demand it. I personally don't slap although I have no doubt I could if I wanted to - it just isn't a playing style I'm drawn to or need to spend time perfecting.
Yup. Me too also. I don't like it, I don't need it, and I don't see any point in developing a skill I won't use. Plus, I have a bone spur on the outside of my right thumb(slap, OW!; slap, OW!).

Saw them on a double bill with Chicago(!)in WPB in the late 80s(?).

No question they were a band of their era. I would have seen them live at the Greek Theater (outdoor amphitheater) in Berkeley in the mid '90s but the show was canceled at the last minute for whatever reason. I flew my brother out from the mid-west to attend the show as they were his favorite band. (I personally never cared for them much) ... needless to say it was a bit of a let-down for my brother. (I thought... I need to get my money back!)

Happy new year thunderbuddies!

I still can't play my bird... but I brought thunderbird pickups this time at least.

This genre is called ''rumba flamenca'' and this is 100% my own arrangement for this song from the scratch, you may like it (or not).

(The video recording is quite bad I must say)

very much like this - well played!

or Mark King and sings lead to boot!…..not of this world…..

My fav is Doug Rauch. He was a contemporary of Larry Graham and an influence to Mark King too. Plus he had a mudbucker in his modified Jazz.

I can’t believe I’m considering switching the flats on my bass vi for roundworms….

They don’t make many flats for a bass vi and I’m pretty sure these are labellas and I haven’t liked labellas in the past… (95-26)

got a set of stringjoy 95-26 roundworms

and an unknown set of 90-24 roundworms that were on it when I got it and they were kinda nice, but only played them an hour or so…

hate changing strings only wanna do this one more time, like evar…

Confirmed on the tort..This one is a case queen. You can see the plastic still covering the pick guard.
I picked it up from my local Craig's list. It sat on there for three weeks and the guy got no bites. It was his sons Bass and he couldn't bond with it...Took it home for $385 with the case in unplayed mint condition.

I play it from time to time..but it takes a big set of balls!

Sorry. :)
