Thunderbird Club

IMO, his "voice" is whiny and grating. Not something I wanna listen to. AFA his-or Ted Nugent's, or pretty much anyone else's-politics, they don't matter to me. BUT! If I pay good money to hear a concert, play yer music and STFU. If I wanna know their 'thoughts', I'll read their FB page. Or tweets.(neither of which I'm gonna do).
You read my mind. Now I don't have to type all that!

I thought he told great stories in his tunes, at least some of them.
I liked all their songs. Maybe one that I didn't care for. One had had unacceptable violence toward a cheatin' woman. Thinking of shooting her wasn't great and didn't age well. But to balance it out there was a song about human/gun violence. On top of that there were two anti-drug and living stupid songs. Don't get that much from rock bands. One environmental song. And Sweet Home which was full of sarcasm not praise in one verse. And some if it was played on Thunderbirds!

I know it’s a pain, but won’t FedEx deliver to one of their stores where you can pick it up? I think you can do that with UPS too? It’s weird, but the couple nightmare shipping problems I’ve had were both UPS.

I'll trust that the driver/delivery person can read and hope for the best.

There's been a lot of singers with unusual voices over the years; early Bowie, early Bryan Ferry, David Byrne, Jello Biafra, Joanna Newsom, Tiny Tim, Liz Fraser, Captain Beefheart, Björk...
Jim Dandy from Black Oak Arkansas (the first David Lee Roth), possibly had the worse voice I ever heard. Reminds me of some thrash metal singers.

Bass solo in this one.

I like it-but I couldn't understand it.;) Nicely done.
Well the gest of the Dutch lyrics is how arguments, debates and such is basically all just talk, like the original song is about. But in Dutch, the word for BS talk is "C*cking" and "C*cking around", in this case "C*ck" as in a rooster. They're all crowing like Roosters.

But I also made a couple of references to the other meaning of the word...

So when is the wife going to start getting after you to restrain the deck?
 That's the old house. That was taken care of before we moved. That deck would look good after staining it, then after a while if would start looking awful really fast. The one at the new house it painted and was cared for before we got here--unlike the old deck. But now there are two decks to keep up with! The lower is new and wasn't painted at the time. Had it built because it made it easier for my mother. Both are repainted and painted now. (The wife is holding the little dog we just lost.)

Quick question: is there any way to swap the original black Epiphone pickup covers for chrome covers?
:woot:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the typical Epiphone Tbird pups are a completely different size than the Gibson chrome covers.

The current standard Gibson pup (encased in plastic) will fit the chrome covers if the plastic wrap is first removed. That would also apply to the Eppi CP since it uses the Gibson pups, But not the standard Epiphone Thunderbird IV. I don’t recall which pups the Active Epiphone Tbird Pro uses.

Then I guess I’m missing something (maybe a cup of coffee). What “Black Epiphone pickup covers” are we talking about? Maybe a pic would help.

That wasn't made clear either but whether it's Epi P/U's or Gibson P/U's can't they all be swapped into some chrome covers?

Mine is this Epiphone

Good question!

We know the Gibby pups can fit with the plastic shell removed.

However, the Eppi pups are longer with the shell ON at 3.84” x 1.50” than the Gibby pups with the shell ON. So it’s easy to assume (as I did) that they will be longer than the Gibby pups with the shell off as well.

We know the Chrome covers will fit over anything less than 3.63” x 1.57”.

At first glance the Eppi pups look like they’ll be too long even with the plastic wrap removed…

However, when you flip the pup over you’ll see there is a significant air space on each end before you ever get to the epoxy surrounding the windings….

So theoretically, if one were to remove the plastic casing material from the two long sides of the Eppi pup they would free up .18” for a new width of 1.32” (that’s less than the 1.57” space in the chrome cover - so it fits in that direction).

Then if you remove the .325” of air space and casing on each end of the pup you free up another .650” in length for a total new length of 3.19” (that’s less than the 3.63” space in the chrome cover - so it appears to fit in that direction as well).

Another consideration would be the mounting screws. Eppi uses three (two on one end and one on the other) vs the chrome covers only requiring two screws. The chrome cover screw holes are 3.3” apart, which should just clear the epoxy cover, so I think you’re close but ok there as well.

The final consideration would be, do the trim rings fit on the center block and cover the original body routing? The Eppi body route is virtually the exact same size as the outside length of the chrome trim ring. There will be zero room for error but it will JUST cover the route length. It’s fine on the width. Unfortunately, that means that the four corner screws of the trim ring won’t have any body top wood to bite into. You’d either have to glue some small blocks of wood in the cavity or use longer pup screws vs trim ring screws.

Bottom line, it can be done with finesse on the plastic shell removal and the trim ring install.

See my response above for the answer to your question.
