Thunderbird Club

Thank you George.
That will work
The Lollars and Chinabuckers are shallow.
And I thought I saw somewhere
here a black spacer that goes between the body and pickup to raise it a bit.

Thoughts?
I suspect this is what you’re referring to…

Lollar makes that shim basically as an adapter for use on Epiphone basses when installing one of their Lollar Tbird pups. I have not used them and don’t know if they’d fit a Gibby or other non Epiphone bass, or if they would work better or worse than pup foam. You might want to contact them to see if it’s something you need.

On the BlingBird build I just completed I routed the pup cavities 5/8” deep and used pup foam to raise the Chinabucker pups to the desired height. Worked like a charm. I’ve got the bridge pup pretty high, it’s dead stable and surprisingly enough I’m not even seeing a need for trim ring spacers right now.

edit: just saw MCF posted the same video, sorry for the repeat.

Interesting.
Good enough for me.

Well, the good is that the neurons correctly linked General Dynamics and Chrysler. Details are the bits that get pushed out to make room for other things like Bananarama lyrics...

The article has the added bonus of other companies I haven't thought about in quite some time - Drexel Burnham...

[edit]Also confirms that it was done to keep the company solvent.
My Dad worked for Convair on the Atlas program in San Diego when GD took them over. I grew up listening to his stories about the industry.

Great minds think alike?

Our band was doing an outdoor gig at a car show thing-y. There was a beautifully restored P1800 there. I spoke to the owner who said "go ahead and sit in it". I thanked him, but passed 'cos I was all sweaty from playing my Thunderbird and had too much respect for his car to get in. There was also the fact that while I was fairly certain I could get in; with my questionable knees, I wasn't sure I could get back out.
Before or after you left your stool on stage? ;)

Local Worcester Mass band called Beep Beep and The Roadrunners- 1966, this was a big local hit on the AM radio. I saw them in (I think 1968) at an outside concert at my high school sometime during the late 60's, they had two drummers, Vox Super Beatles and were great live. Why did I post this in a Thunderbird thread? I will tell you  The bass player had the second Thunderbird I had ever seen, the first was on a counter sitting there with no strings on it at the music store where I used to buy my strings. These guys rocked, I had this 45 when I was a kid.

IMO, his "voice" is whiny and grating. Not something I wanna listen to. AFA his-or Ted Nugent's, or pretty much anyone else's-politics, they don't matter to me. BUT! If I pay good money to hear a concert, play yer music and STFU. If I wanna know their 'thoughts', I'll read their FB page. Or tweets.(neither of which I'm gonna do).

I feel the same about his voice. An old HS friend loved NY so I heard a fair amount of it. Just can't get past his voice. But NY isn't the only singer that annoys me but I can usually understand what others see in performers I don't like.

Let's have some Tesla, and I'm not talkin' cars.

Brian Wheat is a dedicated Thunderbird guy from day one.

Brian had several nice ESP Birds back in the 80's (along with his Gibson's). He is part of my FB Tbird group but doesn't post often.

This is the video I always associated with Tesla, Always thought he played a Hofner all the time.
