Tricked Out Squier Club Part 2

I've got a simple question, guys.

Does anyone of you is using D'Addario Chromes on your VM Jazz? I'm planning to buy a set and try them. I've heard a lot of good reviews on this strings so if you have any experience with these, please post about it. I've been playing in a Beatles tribute and a very good friend of mine told me that using flats the tone would be a lot more like Paul's. The strings I'm currently using are Fender Super Bass 7250ML (stock) on my VM J and Rotosound Swing Bass for my Deluxe MIM J. Any feedback will be very much appreciated.

I use them and love them on my VM Jazz and my 75 P bass. I have used Rotosounds RS77's and I prefer the chromes they sound good right out of the box and only get better. The RS77's I think are a but brighter at first, but age well.

Dimarzio model j

+1! I love em in my VM. And the BadassII was a direct replacement with no new holes needing to be drilled. it lined up perfectly.

Don't forget to read the TB Bazzar section to get the lowdown about the values members get from bassstringsonline.com. Everybody raves about Jason's service and prices. I've been buying strings used, but that's where my next new set will come from.

+1 Jason also packages with care. All of my orders have come in with cardboard protecting the set packages. I have been searching for strings I like for my CV 50's precision. When I got home from work, I found a set of DR Lo-Riders in my mailbox (thanks Jason!) and strung them on. I may have found the right strings for this bass. I like flats but I need variety. Chromes are excellent. They really work for me on my Dark Star equipped JB-2.

You mangled a G&L JB-2 to put Dark Star's in it????? Got a pic, or a link to one? This, I gotta see.

I like the sound and playability of my new VM, I'm just having a hard time getting it to cut and sit well in a live mix with a 5-piece Classic Rock/Funk band. Wondering if a preamp could help with this. What inboard and outboard preamps work well?

Jimmy (Wilson@Landing) didn't mangle it! This is an Indonesian Tribute I picked up lightly used. I took out the tone control so it is V/V and added the control plate so I could utilize a standard Switchcraft jack vs. the barrel-type:

Jarrett, Before you spend, ask your bandmates if they perceive the same thing you do. I thought the same with mine but the boys say it sounds great and they don't perceive weakness in any of the register like I do. It's proximity to the cones I think. A bit of low mid boost helps me hear it. You need to eq It into its place in the mix; frequency slotting.
