Tricked Out Squier Club

Here's mine:

Squier P bass, not sure what year, but it's got a plywood body and soon after I got it the peg on the E tuner broke and I had to find a new one, which took me about 2.5 months!!! Rare squier tuners I guess (not gonna lie, they suck hard - someday I'll get new ones).

Seymour duncan P-bass replacement p/up.
Finished with cut-up aluminum gum wrappers and polyurethane clearcoat.
Warmoth pickguard.

Still to come: Badass bridge and better tuners.

I posted this in the CV club section, but I think it now qualifies over here too.

Put a Geddy Lee neck on it, new pickguard and new pickup covers. The neck fit perfectly, nice and snug. The squier neck also fit perfectly on the Geddy Lee jazz that I took the neck from. Thinking about swapping the electronics out, but they've been pretty good to me so far. This is my first P bass after owning several jazz basses, so I don't really have much to compare it to tone wise, but it's a monster compared to my jazz basses. I'm in love!

I like that! Too bad Squier/Fender wouldn't offer that as a production model! Great pix too/

Way to be: Rock n' Roll!! This is the coolest one yet.

Love it! Great concept, fantastic outcome especially the fret markers, More pics please, did you do the headstock too? But please, it is a laminated wood body, not plywood... there is a difference! Oh yes there is. It's a great material for building electric instruments with if they are to be painted, just not as pretty for a clear finish. Although there is one owner that stripped and finished one natural in the Squier owner's club (I think), and they still look really cool.

This is the first bass I've ever owned, I bought it a little over 3 years ago. It's a 2004 MII (Indonesia) Squier Affinity Series P-Bass. When I got it, it had a black finish on the body, a white pickguard with no accented trim on it, a tone knob, a volume knob, an input jack, and stock Squier pick-ups. It went from looking like this (not my photo):

To what I currently have now. I filed down on the head where it says "Squier," and replaced it with the name "Nick" (that's my name). I didn't do it because I was ashamed of playing a Squier, which a lot of people think, because I've always loved my Squier, it was simply because I had modded it so custom to my taste that it almost wasn't a Squier anymore (technically yes, but with all the changes that have been made there's more new things on it than old), it was my own bass, hence the "Nick P-BASS" marking. I also switched out the white pickguard with a black one with a beveled edge and a white trim to accent it. More recently though, I switched that out again for a custom made pickguard, which only has a volume knob, with the tone set at the only tone I ever use (about 90%-100% open). I also have a black stripe on the head, and a white stripe on the pickguard. I'm kind of a math nerd, and the reason I put them there was because I wanted at least one or two stripes, but I wanted them placed in a significant location, so if you extend the black stripe and the white stripe all the way out, they will eventually meet and make a 90 degree angle. I'm a math nerd, I know. But lastly, my most significant mod I have made to my bass was install some Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Pound P-bass pick-ups (which was even more of a reason to get that custom pickguard. But enough talking, I'll just post more pictures:

The New Seymour Duncan pick-ups (I apologize for the amount of dust, I tried cleaning it all up):

And lastly, the whole bass:

I've also put in some Hennessey strap locks, and I use a white strap, with black on it here and there, to add that contrasting look. I love this thing, and I believe I've turned it from a bass off the shelf at Guitar Center into my own personalized custom bass, and no one else will have one, almost like my own signature bass, which I think is pretty f'ing awesome hahah.

It's good to have something you like, relate to, and call your own! Nice job- I like the subtlety of that one knob- you won't 'get it' until you look at it a minute. All your changes are subtle, and suggest a quiet, confident ownership. Once more I say, way to be.

Here are my additions

1. Affinity P bass with Squier Maple big block neck, will soon be getting telecaster pickup at the 24 fret position. Also debating on if I am keeping or changing the pickguard to tort, black or a print of 2 wolves howling at the moon.

2. My 75 Squier Jazz with the affinity rosewood neck. New tort pickguard on order and I am going to either get better tuners or just order a fender jazz neck on e bay.

I vote for tort for the p, and just ream the holes out for new tuners.

Thank you! haha. And I did what I did because of that exact reason, I tried not to go over the top, but at the same time give it a unique look that people will remember. In the end, I felt that as long as I loved the sound and look, that's what's really important, and I'm proud that it came out exactly how I wanted it to.
