Alright I gave my word and here it is... My new "American Vintage Modified" Jazz Bass.
Stock. In the box.
Stock. Out of the box.
All the Fender Parts I used for this "project": Fender Jazz Bass Black Plastic Knobs, Fender 70's "F" Neck Plate, Fender Pickup and Bridge Covers, Fender Thumbrest (Tugbar in this case), and a Fender Tortoise PG (already swapped on the picture) from my Deluxe Jazz Bass.
I started by putting the PG, fitted just fine. Then changed the stock chrome knobs for the black ones.
Then drilled, screwed and installed the bridge cover.By the way the layout that comes with it for the installation is rubbish... It is useless.
Now the pickup cover. Something funny that happened to me is that I noticed that when you start drilling the tortoise shell it smells really funny, like mint or something like that...
The thumbrest (tugbar)
The "F" Neck plate.
Now the Fender open frame 70's style tuners and the headstock decal.
It was really easy to sand the Squier logo on the headstock, not even 3 minutes.
Then the decal installation... I failed on this step... broke the decal, then fixed it but I will get a new one.
The new tuners... love them.
DONE.
Here with my "Closet Classic Deluxe Jazz Bass"
Hope you like it.
