Typical Talkbass...

But you get something very similar in degree with "The Last Bass Outpost," only the bias is toward Gibson.
I believe you. I was giving an example. We're all biased to a certain amount but IMO we should try to keep this bias low when posting because it won't help. It leads to something like promoting one's favorite bass brand "Z" when OP asks for help choosing between "X" and "Y" (how is that for Typical TB ?).

OMG This! On page 3 the player makes a decision and announces it. Hell, he could say he's selling the gear in question, and posters will continue for 2 more pages tying to outclever each other. I find it hilarious.
I've always been a bit amused by that too. Even though conversation here takes the form of a linear thread, it's still an open discussion. And when you start a conversation with this many people, it's not over until everyone stops talking.

NEW BASS PLAYERS! I feel a responsibility to help out any way I can.
+1. This is definitely one of the things I like best about Talkbass. There's a lot of hard-earned experience here, and it's nice that most people are willing to share it in such a constructive way.

A smattering of Pointless babble, with a sprinkle of technical wisdom so complex that no mere mortal can understand it, smothered in opinions of everything from what beauty really is, to what's the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow.

Sorry... I think that was actually pointless babble....

Ya know, that’s just TYPICAL TALKBASS to slip in it’s your birthday or some other personal significant bit of information. It happens all of the time on here.
:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
I ‘keed’
Happy Birthday @Joe Nerve :hyper:

Guilty.

Not always happy on my birthday, but I am today so I figured WTH... I'm getting at the age where I'm grateful to be the age I am and still be able to do all I want to do :) .

OK. I've seen it more than once now, by more than one person.

What's up with that?

What is, "typical talkbass?"

I'm at a loss.

And I even know what it means to be lownered.

Didn't read through the whole thread but felt compelled to find what "lownered" meant.

Boy, did I have to dig hard to find what it meant. Dec 16th 2011 is where I found it.

Thanks Joe! Learned something new today.

I don’t think TB is much at all similar to TLBO in tone or feel. That's one tough crowd over there.

I’ve been playing Gibsons since I was a kid. They’ve always been my bass (and many years later my guitar) of choice. And I’m pretty up on things Gibson - both the instruments and the company. But man! The high handed tone and the cliquish “in crowd” vibe over at TLBO has to be experienced to be believed. I gave it a brief try and didn’t find it to be a very pleasant place to hang. But that’s me. YMMV.

LOL... this thread took a different direction, but I'm kinda glad it did :).

I guess most haven't encountered it yet as I have. People are quoting people and tagging their response with, "typical talkbass." I think @Stevorebob got what I meant right out of the gate. It seems like an arrogant, demeaning, and childish putdown people are starting to enjoy using.

I vote that anyone using those words is instantly banned :) !!!!!! If someone doesn't like it here, well...

Kinda reminds me of gui****, but its a little different... gui**** was just stupid. This is stupid and arrogant.

But hey, whatever - it's my birthday!!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Joe!

I don't understand carrots either.

Typical Talkbass; New Bass Day, New Amp Day, New Pedal Day, New Artichoke Day...…
A site which automatically substitutes words like "poopie" for stronger language.
A place where many experienced people give good advice to schleps like me.
Tone woods discussed.
As with all forums, the occasional troll visits and gets blasted.
Just a generally pleasant forum which sometimes is about the only way to get certain typs of musical information.
Typically entertaining.
The only place where you can find out the best bass, carrots, codpiece, etc. for metal.
By the way, what is the best metal for bass? Brass maybe? We need more discussions about tone metals and tone plastics.
A place where drummers, band leaders, and guitar players are often reviled.
A place where I generally have no new alerts.
