I almost made a mistake this week that I would likely have regretted but I almost sold my Fury.

I thought I wanted something "better" and was going to get a different bass but needed to sell the Fury to pay for it.

I took it to practice tonight and had fun playing it, it sounded great and felt great. I love its look and love the sound.

I realized that I'd be stupid to sell this bass, it rocks!

So, to the guy who was going to call tomorrow to come look at my Fury, it's no longer for sale. Sorry.

The '90 Fury is the bass that got me into US Peaveys.
It's a simple, reliable bass with very few flaws.
Every time I make a list of basses that I'm going to sell (I currently have 11 US Peaveys), both of my Fury's (an '83 and '90) make the cut. Between them, I paid $130 bucks.

That and the black hardware kept me from pulling the trigger on it. I could probably verify what it is if I were to drive out there, but it's kind of a haul with an 18 month old in tow.

That stripe looks WAY too perfect to be sapwood.

I would like to join the club. Just picked up a 1985 Foundation in satin natural. Not a single nick on it and no fret wear. Looks like it's been unplayed for the last 28 years.

I just picked up a 87' Fury with a hard case for $150. My new favorite bass. The bassist I bought it from set it up awesome, love the way this plays and sounds. Going to gig with it Saturday!

That is a pretty bass. I am still looking out for the 80's Foundations.

I am seriously GASing for one of these, and found one that I may snag today... can anyone tell me about the width and thickness at the nut? I see the 90's Fury's have necks similar to a J-bass... does that hold true with this gen as well? Also, do these have the micro-tilt on the neck? I LOVE that feature!

That's funny that you say that. I play mostly 5-strings, but often switch to one of my 4s. And one of the reasons I was willing to sell my '66 P (which I sold last week) was that it had the "standard" C width neck (1.75" at the nut). Switching from any of my 5'ers or any of my other 4s (which are all 1.5" nut) to the '66 P would always throw me off because the strings are so far apart on the P with the 1.75" nut.

It seems to me like switching between my 5s, which are mostly 1.75" nut width, and my 4s, which are now all 1.5" nut, is easiest because the string spacing up at the nut is about the same between them. Switching from a 5 to my P (with 1.75" nut) would have my left hand attempting to fret strings and often landing my finger right in between strings.

My '84 Fury, with the slanted pickup, is 1 3/4" at the nut. Those may be the only ones at that width, though.


The Fury and my '87 Foundation S have the micro tilt.

How do you tell if its one of the good USA ones? At a pawn shop here they have a whiteish-yellow one with super ferrite pickups in a J setup, three knobs. Is this a good deal for $75? I know Fury value, not foundation's.

I don't wanna get an import!

$75 is a smoking deal for a Foundation. The going rate for that model is between $150-$200. I would buy that immediately, provided it has no breaks or repairs.

All Peavey Foundation models are made in the US. Anything with Super Ferrite pickups is made in USA.

The sure fire way to confirm US manufature is to look at the back of the headstock. If the serial number is pressed into the wood, then it's a US model. If there is no serial number, or the serial number is on a sticker, it's made in Asia. Many of the Asian models have the country of manufacture screen printed on the back of the headstock. Any Peavey bass that has "BXP" on the front of the headtock is made in Asia.
