I have one, too. Love the neck and the way it plays. Good balance. I used the electronics from a BXP with mid control to build it up. The PUs are a little anemic and need more low and low-mid EQ than I normally use but I would do that for most Jazz sounding PUs. I painted the back of the neck and the nib on the front matte black. Just didn't look right natural. The maple was plain vanilla anyway. The side markers on the neck are a great detail.

Hey CD! I appreciate your old T-20 more than words can tell! :thumbsup:

So now I have two: A T-20 and a T-40.

But where does it all end? I thought I was all set for Peavey basses. But lately I find myself looking at Patriots, Furies and Milestones…and thinking maybe I need a matching T-60 guitar too. :nailbiting:

Please forgive me if this solution has already been offered. I recently read in a peavey thread somewhere that tuning pegs becoming loose is an issue with older peavey basses. I just thought I would pass on how I fixed mine if you want to save a few bucks and not replace tuners. I just used some 5 minute epoxy where the post secures to the peg head. Since it dries clear, it's nearly unnoticeable. It's cheap and it works. This simple fix has held up nicely for about 10 years on my first forum and I just did the same to my recent forum purchase. I hope this helps someone.

Good thing I have two of them then, huh?? One NIB, from Peavey, and one used one I bought from a gutted Milly 4. Those pickups might be available. I'm allergic to four strings basses.

Brief update on my Millennium "grunt at low end lacking" issue. I think I found the culprit. Yesterday I took the Bongo to practice. Low and behold it had the same thin lows issue as soon as I powered up....right away I knew the problem wasn't the bass. I run through a programmable Sansamp DI and damn if channel 1's light wasn't dim. I usually run on Channel 1 so I kicked in another channel where I have a tube emulation and bang.....there it was, back in all it's glory. So I have a dead channel on my Sansamp!!! It's not the Millennium!!! Can't wait to get it to practice next week. I'm still going to restring it but I want to hear it properly through my rig first.

Hi. Can anyone tell me if Peavey used brass inserts for the battery cover holes on the Axcelerator bass? I assume the cover is held in place with small wood screws but thought I would ask as I have misplaced the screws and will be stopping by the hardware store on the way home from work tonight. Thanks!

Newer bass player here...I'm a convert from guitar, but always dabbled when jamming. Anyhow, just picked up an 87 Fury in a trade, it's sweet and fast! It's pretty neck heavy though, and I need something more versatile, so I'm probably going to let it go. Going to look for a Foundation, as I read they can get the jazzy sound I want and still do other tones rather than the "rock and roll thunder" only of the Fury. Can anyone comment on neck dive on the Foundation, and which era would be best to target for versatility? Any other Peavey's I should consider? Thanks bass dudes and ladies, you guys are awesome.

Neck dive on the '80s Furys and Foundations is mainly caused by the Titan tuners. Four of them weigh 1lb. Combine that with a light body and there it is. On several of mine I've changed to lighter clovers with the short stem that goes to the key or minis with adapter bushings. Both models of the Foundation are versatile but 2nd model Foundations with VFL pickups and longer upper horn are better balanced , IME.

Excellent, I'll look into that. Guitarcenter has a few reasonably priced second models.
