Sure is. And truth be told I prefer the look of the Gotoh tuners to the open gear Hipshots. I just miss the Xtender. Still I can buy another or switch off the one from my BXP. It might be getting a lot less playing time going forward.

I wonder how much of a weight difference there is between the Hipshot bridge/tuners and the bridge/tuners on your bass. Probably minimal since the Gotoh tuners are pretty small.

I'm not a five string guy. But I am a figured maple top guy! Likely won't ever be able to afford it, but I woudn't mind coming across a Plus 4 in Black Teal in a similar condition to my Transparent Blonde. (Or paying less than $300 for it either!)

That Millennium Plus 4 cost $400 shipped. My fiver cost $500 shipped. I sure like that transparent blonde color!

...The strings the bass came with seem to have a goodly amount of zing to them (Peavey Cirrus SS perhaps? They have black silk wraps if anyone can hazard a guess) ...

Sounds like Peavey Cirrus strings-they are nickels. My absolutely favorite cheap string!

The bridge on my Millennium 5 standard and plus are the same bridge (Hipshot). I don't notice a difference in the tuners at all.

Fretless T-20.

I've been digging white basses lately for some reason.

Fretless Foundation. I have a red fretted with a maple board. I think they would look cute together.

B-Ninety. Looks minty and I like the black headstock.

Anywho one of you guys need to buy that T-45! If I had the coin I most certainly already would have. The sunburst foundation with super ferittes looks pretty dang sweet also.

I don't know if any of those basses above are good prices I was just looking at old Peaveys and posted the ones that gave me a tingling in my nether regions.

I really love my B-Ninety, even if it's PINK It's got a great neck and PERFECT fret job. It's also light and plays like........... Crisco I think the BIN price on the one above is a bit high but they don't come up that often. I just put a set of Fodera Diamond Series Nickels on mine and it's got a great, warm P/J tone.

I'm looking at 2 Foundations ( I have a Foundation S that is amazing) and they seem a bit different - They both have bar pups, but one has much larger pups that are all one piece, and in the other the bar pups are in a frame and a bit smaller.

Anyone know the difference - new vs old maybe? How about sound for the 2 versions?

The smaller pups that are in the "frames" are the Super Ferrites. IMHO, they have a much better sound and are the more prefered of the two.........again, my opinion I have a Fury that has a single one and I love it

Will do. I hope I'll have a chance this weekend; I tried this morning, but the sun wasn't quite bright enough to make the blonde show well. It's pretty close to opaque and you need really good light for the translucency to show so the alder grain is visible beneath. I'm actually not sure it's going to photograph well.

Can you adjust the intensity of the flash on your digital camera? You might try putting the bass in natural light that shows the grain underneath and then photograph it with low level flash.

Yup. That's what I plan to do later this weekend. Sun is good today, but it was too early this a.m. to get it direct on the bass from overhead. The grain shows well to the eye in strong natural light. I hope the pictures will too.

I like the conditions to be overcast or early morning for bass pics. Direct sunlight is tough and provides too much light and glare. If it seems too dark use the flash just for fill. If I have to take a pic during the day, I try to find shade!!

Knifemaker, I noticed your new T40 has coverings over the blades.

Where might one find pickup covers like that?

Those pickups were on the models before 83 or 84 I think. They have a slightly warmer sound and aren't quite as high output from what I understand.

Hm. Is there a mod I can install?

I am in a metal/funk fusion band and i slap a lot. with the low action I use for the metal basslines, i get a lot of string-on-metal popping. Almost all of my basses have closed-top pickups for this reason.

You could try lowering your p/u height a little that might help. I had the same problem (minus the slapping) and that worked for me. I don't know of any mods short of finding someone who wants to trade their toasters for your blades. Maybe you could jerry rig something?

I'll probably try putting some black plastic cut to-form over the blades. I love the high gain for the slapping, but that contact sound is killing me.
