So, question for the council of elders:

If one had a bass that was all(mostly, except for the piece you can't find) Peavey, but not necessarily parts from one model, would that bass deserve to be counted here? For the record, I'm not talking about my T-40 built from parts. That one is all Peavey, even tho it will have Super Ferrite pickups out of a Foundation.

Ok...so we are all on the edge of our seats here....let's see it.

If the majority of parts are Peavey, I consider it one. I have several with aftermarket P/J pickups and one with an aftermarket preamp. They are Peaveys to me.

I don't want to violate too many TB rules, but I'm putting my 1982 T-45 (Black/Maple) up for sale locally (Raleigh, NC) next week.
When I got it, there were several TB'ers who wanted me to let them know if/when I was selling it.

I'd say yes... 'cuz "what year is my bass" is kind of silly when (unlike other brands) it's more like "what generation vibe did my bass have"

Maybe if we knew what parts you needed... we may be able to legitimise your peavey - i'm trying to ditch stuff

Well, the main part I'm missing isn't really something I want. OK, so here's the deal: through no fault of my own, I stumbled upon a NOS B-Quad five string neck. I also happen to have a pair of active VFL pickups from a Cirrus, and a Millenium preamp. Given that I have a Cirrus five bolt on, I am going to make a body that is essentially a copy of that, but out of swamp ash. I'm thinking black hardware. So, the resulting mutant bass will be a Peavey/Modulus neck, Cirrus bolt on-ish body and electronics, since the bolt on Cirri used the Millenium preamp.

In that line of thought, I have three Furys ..two came with dead pickups and one came with a Quarter Pounder.
Now it's EMG GZR, Dimarzio Model P and Seymour Duncan QP.
To me they are all still very much Peavey Furys.
Peavey designed a lot of unique bass pickups, their split P was not one of them, that one belongs to Leo ..as all split P's do.

Agreed. My two Furys have EMG GZR and Lindy Fralin pickups and I absolutely still think of them as Peaveys. A Fury with a great pickup is a really nice thing.

Sounds like you'll have what the B Quad should have been...no delicate piezos, complex electronics or un-ergonomic body. Interested in seeing it when finished. That'll be next week, right????

Well......it finally happened.......I cracked the battery cover on my TL-Five. You know, right where it snaps on at the back end. Did anyone ever discover if there is a replacement battery box out there?? I'm headed off to the gig and it will survive but I will probably pull it apart and super glue it back together early next week. Just wondered about the replacement boxes? Thanks y'all.

Have you checked with Peavey to see if they have the battery box? They still have a lot of parts in stock.

As long as I've been looking for Peavey parts I only remember one for sale and it was cracked. I have several basses that had them and a couple with intact ones. Best thing to do is make a flat plate screw on cover. Checked with Peavey a loooong time ago and there were none. They are really fragile and never should have been used. Wrong material. Most that were shipped are probably busted and in land fills by now. To see one that is intact on a bass now is to see a bass that probably hasn't been played much.

I took a few quick pics before I left for work this evening. Sorry about the glare - still hot and sunny here in NC.
As you can see, it's in pretty good shape - a few dings and a scratch that is still in the clear-coat...and some light rash on the back.
Hardware is in great shape.

Found it this way. My best guess is that it was defretted, since the lines seem to be just clay or glue. A refinishing a few years ago took so much wood off that the lines are almost gone.
