I agree. I wouldnt mind having a bass signed by one of my favorite players (Les Claypool or Stu Hamm come to mind) but I wouldnt do it for financial/resale reasons. Back in 1998, I went to see Stu Hamm on tour with Joe Satriani. I met him after the show and he gave me a set of used and autographed strings. It was a lot more fun than going to Jr Prom by myself.

I met Stu at a Rob Payne’s music store here in Knoxville Tn back in maybe 1990. There was a huge group to see him, maybe 30 people LOL! He had a show that night where he was fronting a band and playing his solo release that had recently come out. I went to the show, was impressed by his playing. Songs weren’t great... typical bass player solo work stuff of that era. But, he was a super nice guy who was able to grab a crappy bass off the wall and play it as well as his Kubicki basses.

I agree.
I spent a week figuring out and executing a signature removal from my Yamaha Attitude Custom bass, I like Billy Sheehan but a don't want a Sharpie autograph on the front of the body. I finally got it removed but it had been there for 20 years so it was not easy.

Billy’s another super nice guy! I think he would be the first to tell you to get his chicken scratch off a bass face.

Took a break from the T-20 so I can comment on the Tragic & Void.

2 interesting Peaveys. The guitar side came first, basses didn't appear until 2011. My guess is Peavey though they had heavy metal players covered with the Dave Ellefson Zodiac DE Scorpios. Dave finished up in 2010 hence the PXDs the following year.

They come from Peavey's Chinese days. Back then they were giving the factories a realistic budget and Mike Powers was over there in charge. Both were well constructed with great finishes. The through necks are lovely and a change from the standard 1 1/2" nut. G&B again were providing the pickups and preamp, 18v powering both. Hardware are Gotoh and ABM clones.

Body shape throws the balance off slightly but not by much, just a little dive. If you like the peg head at 2 o'clock, these prefer 3 pm Not the lightest, my two nudge past 10lbs.

They were a bold move for Peavey's last original bass design.

I forgot, my T20 pickguard is a B/W/B that is brand new from Pickguard Heaven, so I could sell the pickguard loaded with the pickup, trim ring and the controls as a complete assembly if that is a better way to do it.
I can't sell it as a complete T20 because the body has significant dings on the edges and back and the neck is a '92 Foundation neck and not a T20 neck.

The body looks like a poor repaint to me, kind of rough... Are those still the SF pickups with a different cover or different pups all together?

That's a really horrible refinishing on a Peavey Foundation in the transitional period between the superferrite Foundations and what would become the Axcelerators, Cirruses, etc. Those soapbar pickups are actually really nice single coils under that lid. I used to have a white version of that bass in the 5-string version. I've attached a picture of what the headstock is *supposed* to look like. Someone ground the hell out of it and stuck on the bogus logos. I think maybe it was a neck from a difference bass, ground down to something Peaveyish.View attachment 4031247View attachment 4031248

I don't even think it is a peavey body. No peavey ever had those kind of pickups and the peavey soap bar foundation pickups had the 4 ears sticking out for the screws so the body would be routed for them.

I think it is just a peavey neck

I took my g bass back to Music Go Round so they could lower the action. They guy there said “I can do this real quick.” Handed it back to me buzzing all over the place. I handed it back and he said the main tech will handle the setup.

I'm with mb94952, just address the sharp fret ends and perhaps get a dress/crown/polish on the frets. It seems nuts to spend $150ish on a $250 bass, but once the frets are nice, it will play like a $600+ bass. I have no regrets on any $$ spent on the player details like fretwork, a nice nut, etc...

Went ahead and luthier'ed it. Guy did a fretjob, then realized the frets were actually loose. Reglued & leveled again, so basically a job and a half. I get the feeling from the extreme/consistent yellowing and that, that it just sat in some heat/light for a lonnnnnng time. Explains the godawful-feeling frets.

Anyway, plays great now. Worth it.

You can get the truss rod replaced. It's probably the nut itself, and my tech has done it on one of my basses. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water just yet.

GC has a black/black Patriot Bass listed as great condition with a case for $299.
Looks all stock, has Titan tuners and even the fancy Peavey neck-plate.
Might not be a give-away price but it's looks like a really nice bass with a case for three hundred bucks.
I want it but I don't need it, somebody buy it and relieve my GAS.

Seems every Patriot I look at was built on a good day at Peavey, the neck/strings/bridge alignment always looks centered properly ..which seemed to be a challenge at Peavey on some days.
My mahogany Patriot has the tightest neck pocket of all the Peaveys I've had here, the control cavity is also soldered cleaner than any other Peavey I've had here.

I can't believe it is still there and nobody snagged it. Would be nice to have for sure. Someone will get a nice Patriot and a fairly good deal (with case) when they do pull the trigger, it seems.

Please get a description of what exactly they think is wrong, if it's just the barrel nut is wallered, it can easily be replaced, I have an extra barrel nut that came out of my G bass.
I replaced the nut as soon as I got the bass, it took ten minutes. If it is the nut, I will mail my spare one to you.
That neck should have needed precious few truss rod adjustments in its life.
Have they done anything with the micro-tilt adjustment on the neck?
Get more information.

I believe the root of this whole modulus thing was me (strange I own Modulus stuff). Someone asked about carbon fiber and modulus.

I believe many of us made the assumption that Modulus was making G and GV necks. I would not have guessed that a gun stock company was involved.

We are better informed now so we just pass along the information as needed.

Correct. None of my seven G necks are Modulus. However, all three of my BQ necks are.
