Uber 410 = Uber Bad *ss

I hear you Kirk. The Neox-212T came about because I didn't really dig our XB2 4x10 that much.

Then, we were designing a 4x10 cab for a VERY famous funk/jazz bassist.....(he went with another company before we were finished). Anyway, I/we really wanted this 4x10 to bring some warmth, punch and grind that some Neo cabs seem to miss. As well, we wanted to get rid of that "honk" that I hear on so many cabs.

So, in the end, I went back to a 4x10. I REALLY like 2x12's but with a 4x10, I can "sit in the mix" on any stage, with any band and hear myself better than I can with a 2x12.

Dennis Michaels still like our 2x12 better....as do some others. "Different horses for different courses".

I had'nt tried the Uber
212 at the time I bought my Uber 410...but I love my 410 more-its just got more sizzle , punch and volume and can play any gig and IMO can sound as deep as the 212s ...its the best cab I've ever heard...esp coupled with my Mesa Titan V12...Heaven Baby!! Peace...DAcat

I just took delivery of a new Uber 410 4ohm,a great match for my Sunn 1200s amp.
Tried it out last night at a jam and wow this thing blew my socks off,and every one else present :smug:
I had been using a Fender BXR410H 8ohm cab for at least a decade so the result has been way better than I expected.
Punch, clarity, and just pure "presence" which I knew I have been missing for so long.

Glad this is the cab I went for after quite a few months of the usual "which do I choose" dilemma with so many choices and opinions to wade through.

Just had to share in such a thread :hyper:

tough one- cabs and amps are VERY application specific. ...different gigs and musical genres to my ear, call for different rigs.

Having said that....everything being equal, I'd go with a 4x10 with a 2x12 on the bottom.

The 4x10 gives the puch and clarity. The 2x12 rounds out the bottom in a natural way, without having to boost you bottom on your amp or bass.

To me, that is our "signature rig".

The great thing is too if you do boost the bass on the amp the 212 really kicks. The 410 just slices through it
and the complete package is just awesome. I use the Shuttle MAX 12 with the Uber 410/212 combo and it really is an amazing rig!!

Hi Hasbeen....

You said in one of your previous posts that your goal with the Uber 410 was to have the punchiest and most aggressive Neo cab available. You also wanted the higher mids reduced from what you perceived in other cabs. Additionally you wanted the notes in the upper register to have heft.

Well I wanted to let you know I really think you nailed it! I just took home a Uber 410 today and while I obviously haven't had it out on any gigs yet, I can say to my ears and in my studio, it is all you described.

I'll let you know more of my thoughts after I've done a few gigs with it but so far I like what I'm hearing.....a lot!

Thanks.

Welcome to the club Neil. You are going to love it!

Anyone able to compare the uber 410 to aggie DB 410 and or glockenklang quattro?
Thinking about selling my quattro and getting an uber..but the quattro is a great cab..
I am totally reevaluating my speaker situation...I also run an aggie db112 for home practice..good tone on that one too..

but I am interested in getting into the ubers..tonally it sounds like my thing and I want to do the modular thing with a big and a small cab which can be played for different situations..or combined for big shows

thanks

Mark

Hey Mark for whatever it's worth I wasn't a big fan of the Glock. I know a lot of guys love that cab but for me it just didn't work. Even though I'm brand new to the Uber 410 to my ears it just has more of a more organic sound. I haven't gigged with it yet but as I said to Hasbeen, I'm really diggin what I hear.

I'm satisfied with the glock 410 but because I like the aggie DB 112 I was considering moving to an aggie db 410...

having said that I am seriously considering going the GB route..I PM'd Kirk who graciously responded to my noobish questions...I am so impressed by the responsiveness of both the GB people and their endorsers.

I am strongly considering the streamliner 900 and thought It might play better with an uber cab anyway..

I don't have a Quattro, but I do have a Glockenklang Take 5. It has a "big, yet controlled" tone that is fairly clear, but still has some warmth and a bit of growl to it. It goes pretty deep, but is not universally full throughout the lows to low mids. The high end is not as "in your face" as some 4x10's (thinking Berg and Epi, here, mostly), but it is quite nice.

The Uber410 shares many of these same characteristics, but I found the Uber410 to be a bit more warm, and not quite as "precise" (but still very articulate). The Glock seems to go a tad deeper, but the Uber is very focused and controlled down low. The Uber also seemed more resonant (but again, not in an uncontrolled fashion).

Both cabs are strong performers in the middle of the midrange (and I am talking in the context of other 4x10's, here).

I kind of think that if you liked one, you would not hate the other, but certainly they each have their own character and I could easily see some folks preferring one, and other folks preferring the other.

IME/IMHO, of course, and YMMV.

Tom.

I have to say that IMHO the Uber 410 is the meanest orneriest, punchiest and most aggressive Neo cab made! :D If you like the higher mids a little less sparkly from other 410 cabs, and if you like the notes from the upper frequencies instead to have "HEFT" and warmth...yet, articulate and punchy, with solid love and resonance down in the lower frequencies ...you will blubber over the Uber...:smug:...(thanks for makin it Roger)...With a "hefty" Peace...DAcat

I've been using an Uber 410 (with the tweeter turned off) for about a year with my classic rock band and have been uber happy every time. If I could have only one cabinet this is it.

I have a pair of the Uber 1288T cabs and really digging them.. Very clean and robust yet controlled and tight.. with a nice throaty sort of midrange that makes it vocal yet growly too... not boomy or congested sounding... The Uber series is pretty killer.. Im going to order a 210 uber to use on small gigs as soon as i sell my Musicman bass.. I love the stuff.

I'd sure like to A/B an EA iAmp Pro and a G-B ShuttleMax 9.2 with an Uber 410 and a Berg AE410.

[...or I guess that's A/C, A/D, B/C, B/D...whatever... ]

So Kirk, you would rather have a 210 then a single 1288 for the small gigs?

Well i am completely in love with the Uber Quad 1288.. Honeymoon is still in full effect.
I think the Quad is louder than a 210.. and wider sounding too.. Just the nature of the beast. I did a gig with PA support with just one Quad 1288 last week. It was loud enough and full enough.. Very Vocal in nature... Works great with my P bass or Jazz.. But the P bass really gains alot from the 1288T Quad..
No matter what i use with my GB product line. i will sound like me im thinking.
But if i were doing a small jazzy gig. i would bring the smallest cab which would be the Uber 210.. Im buying one soon.. And the only reason i would bring the 210 would be becasue it is 3 inches smaller and i know it will sound great... So its just a matter of what i want to carry...
The Quad 1288 is for my larger louder gigs.. so far so good..
