'undermining' keyboardists 'authority' what would you do in my position?

DRAMA!
If someone isn't in to it, you can't force them. Music is something you either want to do or you don't do it.
And you need to say "You play keyboard, you play key f'ing board, STFU!"

Exactly what I was trying to stop. He doesn't need to be forced he can live his own life.
I wish I just did as everyone else said they would've done and walked off or just yelled but for me it was calm anger
Ah well its over now

Thanks for commenting :)

There are better things for you on the horizon I'm sure, you don't need these people holding you back. Run!:woot: Don't look back. I recall, I had a similar situation....I left quick sharpo and toured with some "professionals" who just plain wouldn't do any of the **** you just listed...:bassist: All the best!

Thanks aha good to know I'm not the only one who has experienced this aha. And yeah I've got enough to be doing anyway without them

Thanks for sharing your experience :)

I'm so glad you posted this here, so you could see how other musicians view it. I'm going to be honest. Every single thing I would say to that group of people would get me a lifetime ban from not only this website, but most of the internet. Your lesson today is in choosing those you jam with, or get involved with in any way. I don't care if they're teens or young adults; they are acting like five year-olds.

Aha thank you. I am definitely going to be more careful in choosing anyone I get involved with from now on.

Thank you for commenting, I appreciate your views and advice(I will bear it all in mind)

Aha it was real aha. It was a strange turn of events that I could imagine seeing in a sitcom to be fair. I guess it was just a really stupid and immature "meeting"

Thank you for commenting :)
No offense intended. It was all just weird. Like the bass player. If he had no intention of participating, why did he even show up.
There isn't a guy in your band named Jack Nicholson or a big Native American guy that doesn't talk much, is there?

They sandbagged you with a request to provide gear that you don't even have?

I don't like any part of that sentence. Musicians need to have an instrument. It doesn't even need to be a nice one - just SOMETHING.

"Yeah, I'm still the concertmaster of the London Symphony, but they might have this violin to use, so I don't even need to buy one. "

1. He believes that music is a sin and that earning money doing so clashes with his beliefs and teachings.

3. In the UK, college years are from 16- 19 with some students finishing a year earlier.

Is your college like the American high school, and then you go on to "uni" afterwards?

The bass player thing is creepy:
But to the surprise of me and the singer, the other keyboardist had decided to FORCE our bassist (who had left due to religious views conflicting with band views) to come back. Every conversation about him returning went with him being pressured to a point where we all could see it and he was so nervous. Even when both me and singer told them to stop and that we could find another bass player since he had outright said no they paid no attention and just went on.

I'm honestly picturing the keyboardist as a sociopath that threatened this guy "I'm gonna tell your Puritan parents that you're playing SINFUL MUSIC in a band that glorifies SEX and SATAN if you don't re-join my ... er, OUR ... band!"

Many people in this thread are confused about why this grand reunion in the park went on so long; I'm guessing that this is the famed British manners in action? Because that was a good moment to RAGEQUIT spectacularly to take pressure off the bassist! You can still take this route in the future if need be... ;) I understand that there are teens in the band which is why I understand the drummer wanting to hang with his mates rather than shake the boat, but I've got a motto "stoopid people gotta learn" which means that blowing up every bit of the keybiatch's desires will teach all of them to think twice before stepping on people in the future (or going along with those that do).

Another vote to leave. I have dealt with situations like that, when I was young (in my 20's). What I didn't realize then was that it would have been fine to not be in that band, and that eventually another opportunity would come around.

On the other hand, I might not have learned so many valuable lessons about what not to do, and how not to be, to be successful in a band if I hadn't swallowed my pride and stuck it out. But you already have other opportunities, don't waste another precious second with that keyboard player.
