The music / comedy trio, Scaffold, which included Paul McCartney's younger brother Peter Michael McCartney using the stage name Mike McGear, recorded the hit novelty tune called "Lily The Pink". Elton John and Tim Rice, along with Graham Nash of The Hollies, contributed backing vocals and Jack Bruce of Cream played bass guitar.

Elton John used to anonymously sing on note-perfect covers of current hits for budget label compilations. (Kinda like K-Tel records in the US). Peter Frampton sometimes played on these tracks, too. Songs include:

Sting's daughter looks and sounds SO EXTREMELY similar to him that she seems to be the product of some genetic cloning experiment.

She isn't, but it's so remarkable it's a bit creepy.

In 1969, Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis were jamming together in London, and wanted to record an album. They got Tony Williams for drums, and the three of them sent a telegram to Paul McCartney. He was away on an extended Scottish holiday - his personal assistant wrote back telling them that.

As you know, Hendrix died in 1970 - I'm not sure what would have been more impressive - the music, or the quantity of drugs that would have been taken in the studio...

Joe Pesci was friends with singers Frankie Valli and Tommy DeVito and he helped introduce them to singer and songwriter Bob Gaudio, which led to the formation of the band The Four Seasons.

He tried to start a musical career, playing guitar with several bands, including a lineup of Joey Dee & The Starlighters. In 1968, he released the album Little Joe Sure Can Sing! (billed as Joe Ritchie), on which he sang covers of contemporary pop hits.

J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. kicked Lou Barlow, the bass player from the band in 1989 after the recordings and support tour for the album Bug after long time internal friction and disputes between the two.

Lou Barlow sang lead vocal on the last track on Bug, Don't, written by J. Mascis, with such intensity that he ended up coughing blood up in the process:

One can only speculate why J. Mascis wrote that song and wanted Lou to sing lead.

In 1991 Lou Barlow released a track he wrote called The Freed Pig with his band Sebadoh as the opener on their album III, which supposedly touch the subject of his frustration with the way he was made to leave Dinosaur Jr.:


Later The Breeders recorded a cover version of that track, which J. Mascis helped produce.

Before forming Night Ranger, Jack Blades and Brad Gillis were in the funk rock band Rubicon with original Sly and The Family Stone member Jerry Martini. Rubicon had one hit song with "I'm Gonna Take Care Of Everything" in 1978; but, their other songs were really good funk rock jams. Jack Blades did some cool bass work with Rubicon.

He's a bass player. I remember seeing him sitting in with the house band on The Arsenio Hall Show back in the 80s.

Zakk Wylde filled in with the Allman Brothers for one gig in 1993 when Dickey Betts was in jail. No rehearsal, but Wylde had an Allmans tribute band on the side. He has said it was his favorite gig ever, but the band was not happy with his performance and he was not asked back.

I read an interview in Guitar World where he talked about that gig, apparently he pissed them off by making a quip about one of their songs that Molly Hatchet had covered and had a hit with.
