VT Deluxe Talkbass group purchase?

I know that we're probably not getting an answer at minimum until later today but WANT NEWS!!! 
I spent some time listening to VT Bass clips online last night and man, this is what I want. Always-on tube warmth going into my preamp, with a couple settings for overdrive / fuzz.

Here's how I approach pricing: If I'm buying new I always buy one from one of the the usual suspects online (like MF or Music123, etc.) when they have a 15% or 20% off sale - which is fairly often. NOTE: Check the "HOT DEALS" in the GAS portion of the TB forum to find out about them. In addition, I always get free shipping as well as the flexibility to return the pedal no questions asked in 30 or 45 days depending on the retailer and no sales tax (that's why I rarely buy from GC - they operate b&m stores in too many states - including mine - thus they usually charge sales tax.) Or you can have your favorite online retailer price match a deal by another vendor. They always do PLUS they may even give you an even cheaper price to keep your business. BTW, I have gotten some fantastic deals this way.
So, given the VT Bass Deluxe costs $270 I'd personally be looking for a shipped price in the neighborhood of $216 to $230 or so from the deal in question here. Plus, I'd expect the standard return policy. If not, I'll wait it out.

Great analysis, kenstee. You have basically justified waiting for the $199 sale that MF would inevitably do.
If you end up going with TPB would we be able to stack the talkbass discount on top of the group discount?
Don't know if they'd go that low - especially with a new product. BUT, you get the general idea. Only way to get it this cheap might be to have them price match a 20% off deal somewhere else and hope the CSR adds to that discount to sweeten the deal. It does happen.........

I heard back from Brandt from The Perfect Bass.
He is willing to offer a discounted price, including shipping, if we get 20 people willing to prepay. BTW, as someone indicated earlier in this (or another) thread, street price is expected to be $269.00. Release date will be late April or early May (just in time for my birthday

Brandt has asked me to keep the details of the price in PM's and not on the forum thread. I will respect that, and request now (and via PM when I send you the information) that you keep it private and within PM as well.
Payment will go to The Perfect Bass, I won't be taking cash or acting as a middleman.

No. This is as low as they can go.
I think for those who want to wait, waiting may make sense. Different strokes for different folks.
I do think that these will not be heavily discounted at first - there has been enough demand for Tech21 stuff, and the VT in general, that I expect that retailers, even the big ones, won't "blow these out" until the first batch or batches sell.
After talking with Brandt, I see this as a nice combination of "Good Deal" and "Early Shipment". So I myself am in, assuming there are enough other people who share my thinking about this.
Just a heads-up. I checked The Perfect Bass return policy and IMHO, its not very favorable. They allow just 5 days after receipt for a return versus 30 to 45-days for most other online retailers. http://www.theperfectbass.com/explore.cfm/policies/. Personally, I like to experiment with a new pedal for awhile before I decide to keep it. Five days - for me - just isn't enough time, especially given the price of this pedal. For example, if it comes early in the week I may not even have a weekend to play around with it before I need to make a return decision. I'll wait until one of the usual suspects has one of their 15%-20% off sales and go from there. My "old" VT Bass will do me until then. For my own personal calculus, Less money + enhanced return options always outweighs GAS. YMMV.

Why should Perfect Bass, or anyone else, subsidize your gear masturbation? You want something, you research it, you buy it. If it does not work you send it back for a replacement or a refund but why should a company absorb the cost of your playing with it to see if you like it? Where did this concept come from?
In the UK there is a mandatory 30 day cooling off period for all online purchases. Seems fair - you buy something online, you don't know exactly what you are getting. Perfectly reasonable if you ask me. Retailers are there to serve us...
Immaturity has little to do with it. Buying on-line is a risk, no matter how much you research, things don't always work out as expected. As I said, retailers serve customers needs, not the other way around. Unfortunately it's nigh on impossible to buy certain items in stores these days, so as online sales increase, so does consumer protection (rightly so), at least here in the UK.
No sense in arguing about it.
If you want to rent one for 30 days and see if you like it, you can pay the extra $20 or whatever and buy from your local Guitar Center. If you're sure you want one and want probably the best price you're going to see in the next 6 months, buy from TPB.
