i could argue all day about it and i have in previous threads Im just sick of it. From your first post you have been putting down fender MIAs and added nothing to the OP's knowledge about his own instrument. If you don't like them fine. As I've repeatedly said if you like squiers great but don't put down other peoples basses if you can't see the value don't buy them

Regarding the DD vs. the FD pickups in the VM Jazz: I owned a 2010 model with the DD pups at one time (I regrettably got rid of it) and I now own a 2014 model with the Fenders and to my ears, the Fenders sound more rich and seem to have more depth than the DDs on my old one...YMMV

I assume he picked up terms orally and thus got a little muddled ("Fender modified" rather than "Vintage Modified," etc.).

That is what I originally assumed as well, but then the OP seemed to clarify later that the information arrived via Instant Message, which made me wonder what the deal is. Did I get that right? I still don't understand what the OP is trying to tell us.

Look Im not going to respond to that because Im above that and respect that other peoples opinions don't have to be the same as mine. I just think talkbass would be a more productive place if it weren't for all the brand bashing back and forth. Im sick of all the threads where both sides have to defend their personal preferences by talking down the other brand. If your happy with your bass play it but don't tell me I've wasted my money or that its not a "good enough" bass.

FWIW the comment was obviously aimed at engaging in yet another debate about the differences in specs between US Fender vs Squier and I didn't respond to that

There are real differences in quality between Squire and MIA, maybe less so with MIA. The real question for buyers these days, is what makes an MIA worth twice the price of a Squier? Is the construction, electronics, and fit/finish really twice as good? That's a tough one to argue, I don't see it, but obviously others do. Since many of the parts are made in the same Indonesian factories, you have to decide how much that pretty headstock decal is worth to you.

this topic has been discussed to death last week alone there were 3 threads talking about the differences. Do yourself a favor use the search function and stop trying to bait responses out of people who have different opinions to yours you don't have to be right

I think what he originally said was fine and he wasn't trying to bait. Simply was validating my purchase as I was somewhat asking by looking at it with a practical view which is value for the money.

Having said that- a buck is still a buck and it really irks me that you could have purchased two of those basses for the same amount.

Just be ready to return it outright as the retail price of a Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz Bass is $499 so you just happened to buy it when it wasn't on sale. Hopefully he'll do some type of price match and refund the difference versus taking it back.
