Please understand the attitude I bring to this forum is not what I bring or convey at an audition.
I am selling myself at these auditions.
Bully as I have pointed out in this thread, when I audition, I am up beat, positive, polite and humble.
It's just frustrating. Remember I am a Guy who saw a Guy audition for a band that was new to playing bass and didn't know the material get a gig over me because he was a friend of the guitarist.
Ok, understood. If a cat gets a gig cause he is friend of the guitarist...what can you do? Be upset? Yes, but you can't let it you get down on it all or you might as well throw in the towel.
I would just pick up and move on. Its better to keep going then to let them take you down or slow you down. When i got dissed by the bandleader in my case (long ugly story short) I was ticked off. It was way worse than your case since I did get in after the audition, crammed 3 weeks for the gig over 50 songs, did the gig and aced the gig. I was even told by the band leader, band and his friends that I nailed the gig only not to get a call a week later to come to practice. When I called the BL to ask about practice he said I had been replaced by the lead singers friend ..a great bass player...they were going a different direction, thanks but no thanks
I was more motivated than ever fueled with allot of new country songs under my belt from that band, I started looking for a country band needing a bass player although I had only played 1 country gig in my life. Not only did I find a band a month later they were 10x better than the one that dissed me. I played with them for almost 2 years till I left with great gigs and pay. The other band that dissed me did few gigs and broke up soon after. You never know...move on!
