So, if I go Trick or Treating at your door, are you handing out Wal Basses? Let me know if I should buy a plane ticket now.

Thanks for that, haven’t been in contact or seen Paul for a few years, other than an email to him last week. Shame he switched from Picato as their great strings, but everyone has their individual preference anyway.
I thought I read that Picato kinda dropped off the radar years ago and that it was Pete that stopped using them?
I still see folks surprised that Picato are still around, and their website absolutely sucks.
This beauty just popped up on Reverb: Vintage 4 String Wal MK1 Fretless Electric Bass Guitar 1986, Walnut Facings *BEAUTIFUL*
If only it was fretted! I'm definitely on the hunt for a 4-string Mk 1.![]()
Not sure, he certainly had a fretless P-Bass that he used with Roxy. However, there are some videos of him playing the Avalon era songs live on his JG. Live at Frejeur is the one I’m thinking off, I think, where you’d swear he was playing fretless from the sound yet you can clearly see the lights shining off the frets on his bass... go figure! Is there a list of Roxy Music songs on which Alan Spenner plays his Wal bass? Did he play his Pro fretted only or also a fretless Wal?
Heart Still Beating has lots of wonderful Spenner Wal on it. Well worth picking up... Invalid Link RemovedIs there a list of Roxy Music songs on which Alan Spenner plays his Wal bass? Did he play his Pro fretted only or also a fretless Wal?

That’s always been my presumption too. Thanks I will check that out. I think the songs Manifesto, Avalon and Same old Scene are played on his JG?
Still looking for a Pro IIe if anyone is sellingI keep nipping at my Wal fund and that’s not good, lol.
Do you think that is a realistic price for an MK1? I might want to let my fretless walnut MK1 go for that price too. Since I might go for a custom 6 string fretless (non Wal). But I am not sure.
It's a pretty accurate statement..going by the sales the past years ... fretless counterparts tend to sit a bit longer unless its about $1k less typically ...... take this one for example ..... if it was fretted, it's a good chance this would've been swooped up by now - even at that price with all those options.
Wal mk1 fretless - violet sycamore facing

Agreed... that's one of my all-time favorite Wals... but I just don't need another fretless. If it was fretted I would have moved on it like I was in the matrix.
