I thought drummers only wore tophats.
I've worn hats for various reasons. One gig I wore a hat because I hadn't played live in a while and was nervous, so I wanted to hide my face.
Another time, I was feeling a bit ornery, so wore my hat that fit that mood.
Other times I've worn a hat (fedora type) because it went with the look of the band.

Are you kidding? Hats are one of the my favorite parts about playing bass. Bass players are the the coolest members of the band, so it’s best if you wear a cool hat.
Yeah for shows these days and whenever I’m going out aside from just going to work. I used to not be a hat guy but I’ve been a surgical technologist for 8 years now and because I have to wear a hat all day at work I guess I’ve gotten used to it.Do you wear a hat while playing?. The right hat on the right person looks great. I personally can’t stand anything on my head, but do sometimes wonder what would be a cool hat to wear.
I’ve always liked the look of a bowler hat like Stan Laurel wore, but I’m not going to shell out that kind of dough if I was too embarrassed to wear it. Not to mention it would have to be the right sort of band/gig.
My hair’s gone on permanent vacation, so if I’m outdoors in the summer I have no choice but to wear a ball cap to keep from frying.
My favorite hat for shows. Need to get a few more. I like it because it stays on well and helps keep some stage lights out of my eyes. Also helps when we play in front of massive crowds because I can look down a little and not see everyone. Even after all these years I can still get noodle legs in front of massive crowds like this from October. I was a pretty baseball player when I was younger also so it is kind of nostalgic I guess
Our only rule on hats is NO ball caps. I've worn western hats, Aussie outback hats, fedoras, Philbys, Panamas, golf caps, fishermans caps ... and many others over the years, appropriate to the band and gig. I still have my hair, btw.My hair’s gone on permanent vacation
Most gig I will have on one of my two Stetson flat brim hats. Biker gigs , i just wear a doo rag. Shirt optional for outdoor biker gigs.
Hat choice should be a bass player’s number one priority. You best have a large selection of them.
If your hat size matches your fingerboard radius then you've definitely aced it.
I had to google how to measure hat size. Turns out my size does match the radius on my favourite bass
. Good thing it’s not a 15” radius 
, that would be reserved for somebody like the elephant man.
I never wear a hat on my band gigs but frequently do while hosting blues jams.
I never wore them at all until I cut off my shoulder length hair and a drummer friend gave me a hat with this logo.

I’m tempted to buy a cap of the hated (locally) Kansas City Royals, not because of anything to do with the team, but for the fact that my initials are indeed KC.
Desiccated, but I can throw a bucket of water on them anytime and Shake,Shake,Shake...
