So sorry to hear about your loss. We lost my mother in law a few weeks ago. It's been tough. To answer your question, generally The Clash - any of the first three albums (through London Calling) and the EP Black Market Clash pumps me up.

Sorry for your loss.
My mother passed away on 2013. She was only 70 years old. She had me when she was 18. There was always music playing in our house. In the early 70s, she saw Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Alice Cooper in the same month. She saw the Rolling Stones on the Steel Wheels tour. When she died, I inherited her record collection which included classical, blues, jazz and rock. I remember her listening to a lot of Motown, especially The Supremes, The Four Tops and Smokey Robinson. She also listened to Petula Clark quite a bit. My mother was by far the biggest supporter of my music and was responsible for me joining a touring blues band which is where I met my business partner. He and I do some of the music for American Pickers on The History Channel, The Aquarium and The Zoo on Animal Planet and several other shows. When my mother passed away, I found myself listening to a lot of Supremes and Petula Clark.

Exile on Main St got me through my first away summer gig in 1975. No money, no car, crap housing and tough gig. 'All down the line' in the morning gave me strength.

So sorry for your loss....Hüsker Du got me thru some darkness. For some reason when I hear "new day rising" I know everything will ok. Also screaming trees somehow makes it all ok. Or anything funny, goofy works.
I was listening to that one a couple weeks ago in the kitchen while making dinner and my son walks in and says, "Hendrix. Cool."
I'm like, who are you and what have you done with my 15 year old kid?
In my top albums of all time list. I've loved Laura Nyro since I was 14 years old. Music in general has saved me, Joni, Weather Report, Prince etc., the list is huge.

Music wise, stay away from dark stuff and keep it upbeat. That being said when my wife and I experienced a loss, Gimme Shelter from the Stones provided me some consolation which strange since it's a rather dark song.
So I guess, the answer to your question might be anything that strikes your fancy and makes you feel better.

It's my favorite album ever and has it all IMO - loads of great bass playing. I have it on vinyl and blast it loud regardless of my mood. Some of it may not be the most emotional but it rocks hard which may be your preference right now...

All music has healing powers. Sometimes that comes in the form of letting you feel some pretty raw emotions. It may not seem like it at the time, but it's a good thing.
When I was going through a very, very rough time some years ago, I was listening to David Gilmour "On an Island". I can't recommend this whole album enough. Bought it for a friend a few years later who was going thru a similar rough time; she said it really helped her.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
As many others have said, "Close to the Edge" has gotten me through many tough times. Just recently, I mentioned to my wife that if I had a choice of what music to listen to as I passed, I would choose "And You and I". I've been listening to that song over and over lately, and it always touches me.

I was sooooo disappointed when that album came out. I pre-ordered it the day it came available. BUT that song works great for today! My wife gave me a knowing nod, went upstairs, and gave me lots of space today. That bridge is rather poignant.

I was walking through a department store in the middle of the week, and they'd accidentally put it on display early. Practically ran through the checkout lane, and flew to my car. Popped in the cd, and after 20 seconds, wondered if I should take it back in and exchange it for a non-defective copy.

That dude is intense! I was introduced to him when I was at my first punk show and he just started with Black Flag. I was standing next to the stage and he looked at me (or through me) and I will never forget that intensity.
Todd Rundgren 'Healing.' Trust me.
I got into his spoken word stuff in the 90's and I picked up that live Australia album and it blew me away. Early rollins band is good stuff. Especially for lifting weights. That stuff hit me at the perfect time in my life.
