What bass players do you think aren't mentioned enough?

I'm going with these gentlemen:

1) Derek Forbes with Simple Minds. I know he was voted "Best" in the 80s, but I don't hear his name mentioned much now. Check out 'Glittering Prize'.



2) Jean-Jacques Burnel with The Stranglers. This band had a good sound and a great look. Distinctive bass. And he did vocals, too. Try 'No more Heroes'.



3) Barry Adamson with Magazine. Top notch. Here's 'Give Me Everything'. What a stud! He's playing an Ovation.

What bass players do you feel like aren't brought up enough or deserve more credit and why?

For me, it's Peter Hook. Obviously not the least known bass player ever but he's rarely ever brought up and I don't feel like he gets enough credit as a bass player or as a melody writer.

What about you guys?

The guy from disturbed. He's so unmentioned, that people don't even realize that he rocks

I’d say bass players in generally are virtually unknown to the majority of non music type people. And even to lots of musicians since we don’t do things like wank excessively long loud guitar solos or beat the wheels of a drum kit to gain attention

no post here since 201 am...Bill Lazwell was mentioned, he has accolades as a producer but this is his greatest actual bass line IMHO. It starts at 1:01 if you're feeling impatient, the prophetic song Silent Land from Memory Serves

Will Lee-Prolific and very talented. One of the busiest players from the late 70's through the early 90's.
Klyde Jones of Daryl Hall and John Oates-a serious bada$$. Here he is demonstrating what I consider to be a perfect example of smooth, tasteful pocket playing with excellent tonality:
