What does your bass say about you?

My Coronado II: "Keep your freakyin' finger out of my F-Hole, You Freak!!!"

What does Fretless bass say about me?

- I couldn't colour in between the lines properly, so I got rid of them completely.
- I like to make things harder than they need to be.
- Near enough is good enough.
- I got sick of the guitarist asking me 'can I have a go of your bass, man?'.
- "Jaco was a genius".
- "it sounds just like a double bass, only better". :P

(Two of these are true.... but I'm not saying which ones ;) )
+1

My Rick - And I'll never leave you either daddy!
My Epi Viola - I'm what McCartney WOULD have played if I had been born yet
My MiM Fender Jazz - Hey mang, we play just as good as the Fender basses made in the states by Mexicans!
My G&L SB-1 says - I thought I told all you wussy basses to keep yer f_____ mouths shut! Don't make me come back there and kick all yer asses again! (He's a real bastard, must be that MFD pickup)

Sorry, it's was supposed to be what my basses say about ME...
Rick - My daddy loves me unconditionally, and has ever since I was born in 1985. I'm his sentimental favorite!
Epi Viola - He's no Paul McCartney...
MiM Jazz - Someone should tell him that "cutting through the mix" has nothing to do with farting.
G&L SB-1 - He's fat and he's old. Ugly too. (I'm telling you, the G&L's got a nasty disposition)

But a gorgeous one with legs to die for. I've missed seeing you about, T. Hope you're doing well.

My basses talk smack about me all the time, especially since I added a 10th to my collective last week. Mostly they complain about my commitment issues, but I overheard one of the Laklands (there are two) tell the others (a combo of Roscoe, Dingwall, Spector, Schecter, Fender, Squier, and Dean) yesterday that they should be grateful since I have several pairs of shoes to compliment each one, and they have their own room and don't have to stay in the closet like said shoes.

My basses say "This guy's a non-gigging musician who keeps buying basses and still doesn't know all the notes on the fretboard"

:D

I am a gigging musician who still doesn't know all the notes on the fretboard.

I have some boutique basses, but they look like Fenders. I lack the confidence to play a blingy Fodera or Ritter... I mean, ppl (other bassists) would expect me to have mad skillz.
:hiding:

My '92 Fender MIJ J-bass (a '62 RI, almost identical to my avatar) was a first Christmas present from my wife 20 years ago: sunburst with a tort pickguard, pretty standard. Have been tempted in the past to sell it, or at least keep it in its case while playing other basses (formerly a fretless 5-er, now a P-bass), but I always come back to it, because it always speaks better with keyboards, and sometimes with electric guitar, for the styles of P&W and rock I play. So I'd say that bass says "loyalty" and "fidelity"--could also call it the "praise machine" when I get into a Jamerson mode playing bass at church. :)

I also have a sunburst '98 Fender MIA P-bass with a white pickguard, whose color really doesn't say what I'd like it to. If it were salmon pink with a tort pickguard then it could be my alter ego :)

My Steiny would say I need to play it more.

My Yamaha would say I need to decide on what electronics upgrades I want to do and pull the trigger

My Squier Jazz would say I need to play it more.

My Fender Jazz would say the Squier needs to shut up.

My Ibanez ABGs would simply chuckle because without amplifcation they can speak over top of all the others. They'd also ask when I'm getting a Dark Violin Burst and a Light Violin Burst to complete the set. ;)
